Gautam Gambhir as next India Coach

Most good foreign coaches would much rather prefer to coach an IPL team for 3 months a year and get the same salary than take the high stress job of an Indian team coach all year round.

Gambhir looks eager to coach India. He's a team man and has a great record with KKR too. Just give it to him. He will shake things up for good.

How much do IPL coaches make? How much does Dravid make from being coach. I thought IPL coaches make about 3-4 crores, and Dravid makes 12 crores. Has this changed?

The salaries are similar to what you quoted. 3.5-4 cr for IPL and 10 cr for India. BCCI will probably increase it to 12 cr or so for the next coach.

But IPL is a 3 months job. Indian coaches are required to set base in Mumbai and be available for most of the year.

If BCCI decides to go with Gambhir then they should also let him choose his background staff (bowling/batting/fielding coach). Gambhir would not magically solve all the issues, he will need help from his background staff and selectors.

May be just temp..gg is currently getting Dhoni level hype on social media ..lol what an irony.
Rightly so.

I think gg has a strong mind and will. Such entities never last in politics of Indian cricket

This is not happening until the ego maniac Kohli is still in the side. And he ain't going anywhere until atleast 2027.

But Kohli is not captain or even vc anymore - I doubt if his opinion matters. Gambhir has certainly boosted his resume with this IPL series win.

I just hope he throws out Kohli and Rohit from all the formats after becoming coach.

I think he should only become coach after all those he has player with retire.

He can put a condition that he will only be the coach if these players are gone, at least from LOIs.

If we have a crappy wt20 selectors would agree.

Revamp is needed even if we steamroll every team and win it.

There was same kind of good buzz when Dravid was joining.

Nehra was a buzz last year, Now Gambhir ...

When player who are playing are not much motivated or inclined to win and put in effort than what can a coach do. Dravid thought his entire job was to keep things good between Kolhi and Sharma.

Coaches said fans have to lower the expectations. And Players says they have nothing to prove.

Had Ind lost WC finals with an OS coach with the kind of pitch alteration done on the behest of coach would Ind media or ex and current players let it pass by so easily??

No intnl OS big player wants to join Ind team as a coach after Chappell ,he just exposed the start culture and asked these guys to come out of comfort zone.

Gambhir (with his nature ) could end up like Kumble where player demand him to be removed or they wont play the match

Appointments like Gambhir can only work if seniors like Kohli Rohit Rahul Fraudeja are kicked out of LOIs...

He will probably ensure retirement of Ashwin in Tests in due course too.

If these conditions are not met them expect another Kumble saga.

No he can kick out these oldies if he presents vision. No Oldies for wc-27 should be the deal. Ideally no Oldies for CT-25 also. I doubt it will happen though. We had same hopes about Dhongi getting kicked out when Kumble then Shastri stepped in. Nothing happened. Shastri actually was very admant about young team when he took over as director in 2014, but as soon as he became coach, he became Dhongi worshipper.

He will drop kphli rohit and kl I think. Firmly believe that. If he doesn't then I will start despising the man I respect tbh.
