Saddest - There is no rule of law in this country. Police is in cahoots with the ultra rich.

Well the police are in cahoots with the rich all over the world, the difference is in the west they still give the average guy a decent lifestyle which stops them from revolting. People care more about sports and movies than what their politicians are doing.

Not comparable to how it is here. The victim is screwed over and over again.  I am sure you understand the difference. 

 

This is the only thing I haven't been able to reconcile with on my return from the Americas.

Disclaimer: India is still a great country for people who are the lord's of chaos and corruption like banias/babus/politicians. They are doing pretty good.

 

It is also a good country for unproductive masses/pollution daatas that live on doles.

I stated earlier that India is a failed state. It's not much better than Pakistan and Bangladesh. It will never be fully developed with a democracy running the show.

The productive middle class is holding it from total collapse. Interestingly modi and co are making the life difficult for same set of people.

You paint a sorry picture. A failed state cannot be 5th largest economy greater than UK  economy with top CEOs originating from India. How many times have you visited India? Urban life is pretty good compared to most developing countries, people have large disposable income in middle class We are animal lovers who don’t mind animals on the street

This 5th largest economy is nonsense. Look at the population difference. India's is 20 times more so it's economy should be 20 times that of the UK to have a comparable living standard. Ever heard of GDP per capita? UK is 20th in the world, India is 141st. China's economy is over 4 times larger. I've visited India several times and while there is improvement each time the chaos and lack of order remains. Oh yes the CEOs, they have also left India for better opportunities abroad, how do they benefit India in any way? They're just another case of brain drain. India will forever remain a developing country. 

 

Animal lovers, don't make me laugh. I've seen people kick those unwanted street dogs, people abandon cows once they stop producing milk.

Friends of my graduation days are all settled abroad. One by one, each of them are coming back to hyd to liquidate the properties and move the money abroad.

 

The nashunalist Modi govt is trying to stop this by imposing 20 percent TCS. The Hawala network is in full swing.

A good percentage of India population is in poverty and their physical growth is stunted.

 

Freebies are necessary for the upliftment of poor in food, education and housing.

 

Even US "the land of capitalism" hands out food stamps. Trump proudly says he has always  supported funding of HBCUs. There is Homeless Assistance Grants for the homeless.

 

The only freebies the modern state can provide are education and healthcare. 

 

Other than that everything is a gimmick that makes people even more lazy.

 

The SJW activists must stop peddling poverty porn.

If people are complaining about India I wonder what they say about the rest of south asia...

 

India is the only country which is not a guest at the imf in some form. The reason why this is the case is there is some form of fiscal committment from the Modi gov. 

 

Poster child of growth Vietnam has had its average gdp growth prediction trimmed to 5% for the next 5 years. 

 

More vietnamese per capita leave for "abroad" than india. You would think India is the only country which is shedding people.

 

The blunt truth is that the world is not in a good financial shape. @Ranvir like to quote gdp per capita, but the uk gdp per capita in real terms is static for the last 5 years. If you go back further the uk gdp per capita in real terms is still at levels barely above of 2007. Thats nearly two decades of 0 growth. This contimues and even at 5% growth over the next 30 years, india gdp per capita will overtake the uk...

 

I dont think people realise that if trends continue just how bad a shape western europe and japan etc are in...

India is at a good position. In India food affordability is much better than in US. Democrats lost because of affordability of food and home. Most countries are seeing inflation because of Covid relief expenditure.

lol. China has lot of problems. China doesn’t even has drinking water. The manufacturing has led to widespread pollution of their rivers. 50 pc is so polluted they can’t even use it for agriculture and 80 pc is not fit for drinking. China’s economy is slowing down and they don’t know how to keep growing on top of it trump is going to put tariffs on china. China has ghost towns and they kept building to show real estate is good investment but their biggest realtor is bankrupt. The loans they gave to countries are not going to get paid. They are also loosing population many of them will be on state benefits and they have less people who work to pay the benefits for the state.
