Ab ki baar, Coalition Sarkar! Modi 3.0 Government Formation, performance thread

Big picture, historically cant think of too many parties or coalitions forming the govt in the centre after losing UP.

UP looks like all but gone. With 2024 numbers, BJP will end up with 130 seats in assembly.

They have to secure Bihar and other states. Lok sabha mandate in Bihar was actually pretty good.

Not a political expert so a dumb/naive question

What is the point of Rajya Sabha? Politicians who lost from their seats can still be cabinet ministers through Rajya Sabha route. Isn't that going against people's mandate :dontknow:

Lok Sabha directly reflects people's mandate. Rajya Sabha represent elections / selections by respective state legislature.

Yeah I got that. But if someone rejected by people is still representing them because of selected by someone else, it defeats the purpose imo

Yeah but he is not representing them. For instance, when Javed Akhtar is nominated, he is not representing people directly. Thats why you have two houses to act as a check and balance. Yes, you are right, it is kind of of used by the parties so that those who loose also find a seat somewhere.

Two houses are ok but I think cabinet ministry should only be from Lok Sabha

Held the line well in covid era times. India only country in south Asia which has not gone to the imf.

Unfortunately analysts underestimate the impact covid-19 has had on the finances of nations.

^ also AFAIK guy like Bittu is not yet a Rajya Sabha MP even. So with what right is he taking the oath? Just assumption that he'll be selected? Shouldn't it be on current status :dontknow:

She can sound irritating and sometimes rather arrogant. In terms of facts of numbers , there is nothing wrong with her perfomance.

One can become a PM/CM/minister even if he/she is not an MP/MLA, just needs to get elected to the upper house in the next 6 months after oath.

TBF with this system you can get specialists, who aren't politicians, for the ministerial jobs. Jaishankar came in the same way.

This is standard widow vilaap , pehele ask them to not vote for fascist forces and vote to save the constitution and ask them to vote against BJP by design and then cry that there are no Muslims in the ministries.

You exclude Muslims out from voting to BJP and then cry why there is no representation. Hadh hain!
