How can I forget Govinda. Classic! My favorite decade matches with yours. Things were simple back then. A little bit of romance, some comedy, some dishum dishum, voila you are entertained. Your time spent with friends at the movies was worth it.

Have you watched Aankhen

The one with Two Govindas. Two Kader Khans. Two Raj Babbars. Two Chunky Pandeys. Actually just one, but there was a pet monkey somewhere in the movie.

Word is out that there is a 100000000$ award on assigning a genre to the movie.

It has it all: comedy, action, coming of AGE, romance, its a thriller, mystery, financial crime you name it.

I have seen *all* the movies in your list.

Hrithik's best is between Lakhsya and Guzarish.

War was terrible, from a movie/acting viewpoint. Commercially of course it was super successful.

Salman has acted well in HAHK, Khamoshi, KKHH, Sanam Bewafa, MPK, Tere Naam.

Posted Wanted, Salman is unbearable.

I thought Ready was your favorite Salman movie, you had posted a glorifying review that made me watch that trash.

Haven;t watched it. maybe this weekend. cast looks awesome people I'm familiar with. kader khan is another versatile actor can easily make comedy. last weekend my trip with friends ended with watching a serious movie full of violence :eviltongue: im expecting fun this weekend

I totally relate to this sentiment.

Is it due to age or is it due to movies being absolutely violent and/or crap these days. I cannot speak for those who lived before the 90s and I'm only speculating here. I believe a movie like KKHH can time travel and make it to the 60s. Of course, the people in the 60s may say this movie won't be a success in our time. But it can still run in the theatres. I don't think some of the new movies can make it to the 90s much less the 60s. Do you feel the same way?

Watched half of Professor (1962). Will try to finish the film today or tomorrow. Most films with Shammi Kapoor in his prime are gold. At times, the film felt like a cartoon.

@singhvivek141 Kalpana Mohan looks nice in it. Her acting is good too:

The 90s was probably more like a guilty pleasure decade. It is difficult to find too many films that you would want to watch now (there will be exceptions like Agneepath, etc.).

The 80s was, relatively speaking, ghatya as well but it has a handful of films, from the top of the mind recall, that can be enjoyed today such as Qurbani (1980), Karz (1980), Zamane Ko Dikhana Hai (1981), Vidhaata (1982), Angoor (1982), Namak Halaal (1982), Karma (1986), Mr. India (1987), etc.

Ram aur Shyam (1967) ... A solid film ... The performances by the key actors - Dilip Kumar, Waheeda Rehman, Mumtaz, & Pran keep this film relevant. Pran as Gajendra is one of the scariest villains. Dilip Kumar :hatsoff: is having fun in the two roles. Waheeda and Mumtaz have a good screen presence ... A minor negative is that songs, now, appear to break the rhythm somewhat. You feel that they were not needed apart from following the norm.

PS My favorite sequence from the film:

The film needs to be restored.

The first two films, I haven't watched them for a long time. Maybe will watch them when I get into Manoj Kumar films. Need to watch Aadmi as well which also stars Dilip & Waheeda.

I like Pyar Ka Mausam which is another variation of Nasir Husain films such as Tumsa Nahin Dekha and Dil Deke Dekho (some elements taken from it too). The strength of this film is the music, so if remade, the music needs to be top-tier. Elements of Tumsa Nahin Dekha have been used in films like Mahaan as well. This story has popular Bollywood concepts - lost and found, hero v father/grandfather, romance, comedy, imposter, etc. With some changes to the script, it can be remade.

Ram Aur Shyam is a remake of a Telugu movie Ramudu Bheemudu. Loud when I saw it last on YT. Don’t like south movies remade  in Hindi in general and vice-versa.

I was wondering who the director Tapi Chanakya is. He remade his own 1964 film in Hindi.
