Controlling for population USA has deported far more vietnamese and chinese than Indians. I am reminded of p-value signifiance and effect size. This is certainly not like Honduras and Gautemala in which huge % of the pop is migrating to the USA illegally. In general China and Vietnam send more of their pop illegally in % than India.

Controlling for land mass and residual population probably more Indians end up in the gulf or even Canada/UK/Australia. Once again I am reminded of effect sizes.

Simply because of money and opportunities. Now that US has become difficult and expensive and with visa issues, next preference is Europe / Australia. Then when it comes to pure migration for educated segment - Canada / Australia. This entire segment represent less than 0.5% of India's population. Now for the other illegal / labour / specific skill labour, they will go where the money is good and life is reasonable. Be it Serbia, Russia, UK, France, Germany, Poland, Canada. As much as we like to blame for political things it is very easy for an Indian to assimilate here compared to lot of other countries. I have been to Paris. Never met more rude people than them.

Adulation of bollywood, michael jackson, IT industry what not we are far more connected with them than any other country both economical level and social level. I have heard stories about Indians can never feel assimilated even after 20 years in Japan.

I know Indians who are there for 18+ years and have had to send their kids to college in Canada due to their H1B status. Places like the UK, Canada, Aus and NZ offer less wages and social mobility than the USA but more holidays (enough to visit relatives back home in India) and a much easier path to citizenship to settle down and lay roots. Many Indians find that more attractive.

Many Indians find that more attractive. That is because they have quota (7%) for each country when it comes to issuing GC and citizenship. Indians significantly outnumbers others in H1b category where they don't have similar restriction. Invariably all H1b visa guys want to become citizens. It was okay upto a point. The queue was not big. But now the queue is very long. Biden administration is trying to do something about it. H1b visa is a temporary visa. So everybody started using it as a path for citizenship. That is where the clogging started.

Many Indians find that more attractive. I don’t know why Indians still leave India. India has lot of startups and companies. When I finished my bachelors I didn’t had a job so had to move. But now it is different. The life in these countries is selfish and not much great compared to what you are missing in India especially family.
