They are not stupid, Anna. But, in speaking with homeless people, or people who are working multiple jobs to keep food on the table, or my students whose families lost everything in a natural disaster, I have come to realize that things we take for granted are not a given for millions. The federal govt has to facilitate even basic things.

Maybe the thing to do is to take a picture during registration, and then when you show up to vote, scan your face and use AI to match. That way, the burden of ID'ing is shifted to the govt and not the voter.

If 3rd world countries like India can figure it out, I am sure a first world country like US can. Just get those votes who didn’t ID as provisional ballots and count them only if needed before calling.

And we have to do something about this AP calling. A stupid system that causes situations like 2000, 2004, 2020 or to carrot top candidates like DJT who says they won’t concede.

Get a new Federal board of elections, it’s about time. Instead of stupid federal organizations like USCIRF . Defund such organizations and have a common election body :hitler:

These kind of theories were not mainstream until Trump took control of GOP.  Anyone who opposed Trump's opinions were vilified.  They were targeted.  IN order to please him they had to invent theories of fraud.

Voter fraud and voter suppression has been in the news even in the 90s, not a Trump thing

Voter suppression caes filed well before the election not after the results. It doesn't depend on who wins. It just makes sure maximum people vote without hassle. Voter fraud claim is candidate being unable to handle the defeat. Any other candidate who lost by that big margin would concede the election. Not blame only 5 or 6 states he lost for fraud while ignoring the states he won.  Second one led to insurrection, disturbance to democratic process of vote counting where they had both democratic and republicans working. He even influenced one person not to certify  win. He tried to influence Mike Pence not to certify election victory to Biden. He threatened him with the words "It would be a career killer". His abuse of power was unheard of. Thankfully honest republicans did not budge.

There is a good chance India is disenfranchising voters with so many people living below poverty line.

It's simple. If you have voter ID, you are eligible to vote. If not, bye bye. Despite poverty, we still get more voter turnout than US.  In fact, poor people voter turnout is more than rich.

Not sure about migrant workers being able to vote.

Yeah that sounded weird to me as well. What is a media house doing calling an election victory when it is supposed to be a federal government agencies job.

That is a slim chance. More than the educated affluent voters the poor ones vote far more rigorously.

It's the ones who are well off that are too lazy to vote.

That's why higher voter turnout usually means democratic win.
