After 75 in 10, acceleration was required.  There is no excuse for completing 50 in 47 balls irrespective of the situation in T20 cricket.  176 was not a match winning total on that pitch by any means.

Ind scored 181/8 from 62/3 vs afg in same Ground. 176 good score in finals. we feed spinners to Klassen was the mistake

different pitch.  that pitch helped spin.  this did not and SA batting is much superior than Afghanistan.  SA have several match winners in batting. Afghans none.

SA pace bowling also much superior than afg. If not 34/3, ind would have scored 200+.

Shows how important Pandya was to our win. This shows the value of an all-rounder in the team. Someone like Pandya is worth their weight in gold and shows why the team management tried to fit him in. Same with Axar, who clearly is an upgrade over Jadeja.

Kohli stayed till 19th over,not that he got out before 15-16

Pandu's injury was big reason we lost 2023. Completely messed up our balance.

Can't really blame him. He did it instinctively. Players like Bumrah and Pandya should be protected and played only in important series & tourneys. No point in them playing bi-laterals at all. Maybe a series before the ICC tourney to give them practice but that's about it.

 

We also need to look for pace all-rounders. Give cricketers like Reddy, and Venky Iyer some games. Good pace all-rounders is rarest of rare breed and they bring a lot to the table. Hopefully we remove the Impact Player rule in IPL as that'll force players like Venky and Reddy to bowl a lot more. And it's time we start focusing on multi-skilled players instead of specialists.

@Lord like I mentioned earlier, there is not much to separate Axar and Bumrah.  Only Hardik is rated higher. 

 

The top 5 impactful batters have been Rohit, SKY, Pandya, Pant and Axar.

 

Basically,  Kohli, Dube and Jadeja have been the worst players in the Indian team by far. 

 

Impact/ match ratings for the worst players 

 

Kohli - 15.6

Siraj - 15.2

Shivam Dube - 12.1

Jadeja - 6.1 

 

 

 

 

 

Axar and Hardik were fantastic but there's a reason Bumrah got POTT. Saved us from sure losses vs Pak,Aus and SA. Even in Afghan game he got Gurbaz which killed the chase.

Even in the matches vs PAK and OZ , Axar was the one who applied the pressure with his defensive bowling and parsimony.  

 

And against SA, we wouldn't have reached 170 if it wasn't for his clutch knock.

Axar really stepped up big time in big moments - both with the bat and the ball. A true MVP alongside Pandya and Bumrah.

 

Really didn't expect it from him. These are the type of performances we expected from Jadeja, and it's Axar who showed how it's done
