MLS is burning out. The owners must be burning cash with lack of interest this season. 95% empty stands for all games so far. 

 

MLS needs to focus on marketing, branding (start by changing the horrible team names), better scheduling

 

No one wants to watch money-grab IPL offshoot teams. MINY had to be the worst sports team name ever.

Dude but... Imagine calling a team Mumbai Indians New York. Ya try marketing that to the locals in New York. Clearly the Ambanis are trying to market to Mumbaikars to follow their offshoot team instead of trying to capture/create the local market in the USA. 

 

Imagine if an IPL team was named Kathmandu Nepali Mumbai.

I think their strategy is to give the die-hard Mumbai Indians a chance to follow "their franchise" year-round. There is no intent to grow the sport in the US. Additionally, its a way to "pay" IPL players outside of the IPL purse limits. 

 

Its purely transactional and it makes sense in a broader financial view. 

 

1. There is more money to be made from die-hard Indian fans than even the maximum market value of Cricket/MLC in NYC area. 

2. Keeps increasing the franchise brand value. 

3. Diversified stake in global leagues means that if a few of them blow up, rest of the investment is flush. 

 

I'm sure that, their analytics drives certain decisions. 

 

From a local fan's perspective, its just plain silly and unlikeable.

i dont think any of that matters....

 

all that the bombay franchises look to do is pay players obscene amounts of money under the table....

 

to get the best players around the world to try and win....

 

all they care about is cheating irrespective of league...

 

even with that they ended wooden spoon 2 times in 3 years in IPL and 2 times in SA 20.....

This Unmukt Chand is such a washed up player now. I feel bad for him, tbh. He was at the verge of being hailed as the successor to Kohli at one point in his life. His performances dwindled and so did everything around him. It must be extremely difficult for a young person. I've rooted for him but he has become more and more inconsistent overtime.
