Exactly. Had cancer too. He is a legendary player. He is excused. Him gambo, I will always have respect for.

What i am worried is that this star syndrome is happening earlier and earlier in players careers. At least Kohli, Yuvi etc developed it after a long career, people like Pandya, Gill, Parag etc are showing the symptoms already without achieving much and a long career still left for them.

After cancer, His hand eye coordination was below average. I am big fan of him and his 2007, 2011 contribution in world cup is unparallelly. But picking him after cancer, was biggest blunder. The SR culture is one of the reason why India missed some of the ICC trophy in last decaces and it took so many years after 2011 to win another WC.

Pandya achieved 2024. But Gill has nothing to show yet. Parag is laughable to have fan boys. what we need in indian cricket team is a person who can take decision based on performance , not based on past glory. Even the Gautam is not out side the realm of influence here. He will eventually bow down to star power after media and fans will critizie his every move. I already see it started on some of the Cricket Youtube channels.
