India drew in 2002 when mcgrath dint play. And India weren't at their peak strength in those days yet for test cricket. So for me mcgrath was the key component to their success. Without mcg they aren't winning any wc or test maces. Chakdephatte 1

They had Healy at 7 in 96 and Moody in 99. Only later they beefed up on batting knowing bowling quality is there

And averaged nearly 40 with the bat in his final year of ODI cricket . Just never got to play regularly for OZ. Edited July 7, 2024 by Nikhil_cric

Even in 90s that was poor for a no. 7. SA had Pollock/Klusener coming in at same spot

SA had Pollock/Klusener coming in at same spot Moody did not play cricket consistently. That strike rate is from 87 to 99. In 1999, he averaged nearly 40 and struck at 88. McGrath didn't hit his white ball peak until '99. Both his stats and his own statements regarding his ODI bowling(Bowling more defensive lengths) bear that out. Noticeably different approach from the 98/99 C&U series.
