I don't think KL stocks are down at all.  After his comeback from injury , he did well in the Asia Cup vs Pakistan and except the final he did well in the World Cup as well 

 

Hes not seen as a pure batter in this format. 

 

Sitting down Pant will not happen . KL has to fit in as a MO bat in ODIs. Pant to play wkt finisher since he has recoved from injury. His stock is down as he was dropped from WT20 squad. In India, where they select same players for different formats , out of sight is out of mind for selectors.  Hence, it is hard for him or Iyer to make a comback into any squad. We have selected Sky for ODIs and even Tests based on his T20 skills.

Sai, Gill, Jaiswal, Kohli, Rohit, KL, Sanju, Iyer, Rinku are the ones in contention for that Top 5/6 batting slots.

 

Mostly gonna be 5 because we'll play Hardik , Jadeja and Axar/Sundar at 6,7 and 8.

 

Gonna be the 2023 World Cup Top 5.

Let's see. KL hasn't played T20 I cricket since the previous World Cup. 

 

But I don't think BCCI are going to drop him for ODIs at least.

They should and that should be an example for youngsters that team comes before stats-padding. I doubt even Goenka can change KL

Kela got lucky as kaptaan.   His performance with the bat was ordinary in that SA series.  The names u hv mentioned are the ones to be credited with.

Have to be realistic. A pre injury Pant would have been curtains for KL.  But as it stands , this is his record against top sides since comeback in Asia Cup

If Pant is not selected, he will be back up for KL.  Ishan Kishan has gone down the pecking order now.

No matter the record, KL always shrinks under pressure. He's another stats-padder from the past who show up in group stages and then go missing at the crunch. I would rather go with someone who can perform under pressure. KL showed in WC2023 final what he's capable of. And it wasn't even a bad situation. India were 90/2 off 11 overs IIRC. They were going at 8 an over and even if we had scored at a RR of 5 per over the rest of the innings, we would've reached a total of 280-290, which would've been par.

 

But he simply stalled the innings. He didn't do anything other than hand the match on a platter to Aus. And this is is not the first time he has done that. He was meek against Pak both in 2022 WT20 and the Asia Cup match against Pak in 2021. He simply goes into his shell when under pressure. In IPL he does the same too where he seldom plays at the rate required and puts additional pressure on his team. It's time to move on from him and hope selectors see that he doesn't bring much to the table. With Pant back, we don't need KL as a wkt keeper or a batsman.
