1. Rohit

2. Jaiswal .. LHB

3. Gill

4. Kohli

5. Pant .. LHB

6. Jurel / Rahul

7. Jadeja .. LHB

8. Harshit

9. Akashdeep  /  Kuldeep ( based on pitch )

10. Bumrah

11. Shami

12. Rahul / Jurel

13. Sarfraz

14. Ashwin

15. Kuldeep / Akashdeep

16. Siraj

.... Both Harshit and Akashdeep are tall, hit the deck, low FC average pacers, ideal for Australia.  And both have batting ability. Hence both should play.

....  This team has alternating RHB and LHB

Losing confidence in Siraj?
Harshit can bat but I looked at Akashdeep's stats, they dont suggest he can bat,

Siraj has become a Jeckyl or Hyde bowler.

One day he bowls accurately and with bounce and movement at 135 to 145. Next day he floats the ball up at 128 to 138 and sprays the ball.

One nwver knows which Siraj will turn up on a given day.

Akash has improved his batting in the last 18 months or so.

Akashdeep may be run out off gas after first spell of bowling we need someone who can bowl with old ball too

My preferred playing 11 has 3 other pacers, Bumrah, Shami and Harshit, who are all excellent with the old ball.

Akashdeep and Kuldeep will be rotated based on the pitch. Kuldeep for Sydney type pitches. Akashdeep for Perth, Gabba type pitches.

Moreover, Akashdeep may need some work on his old ball skills but he does not run out of steam. Clocked 143+ multiple times with the older ball and got some bounce too.

Need to see more of Akash as of now Siraj ahead.

I want Akashdeep to play at least 3 more tests out of 5 at home to really gauge what he is all about.

Talking about the batting of 8,  9, 10 and Jack is pointless.

Pick your best bowlers and get them to hit/bat a little .

Ideally yes, but for us 'a little' doesnt work because top order craps the bed too often and lower order saves them, specially in SENA

has Patidar dropped out of the radar of ICFers?

Mentally fragile and poor temperament. He was blocking half volleys against Eng spinners. It was almost like watching a poor man's KL Rahul. An absolute mental midget similar to KS Bharath. Both of them shouldn't be anywhere near the Indian team.

Its not pointless, its basically the reason we won in Gabba last time.

The point is to win and if a number 8 player can score runs than why not?

Shardul did that last time, this time we need Rana to do the exact same thing, cant put someone like Kuldeep or Bumrah at no.8, that's horrible

Australia will come well prepared with plans vs Rishabh Pant and his success is vital for team's success because his game means business straightaway, extremely impactful. If he fails, it will make things worse for India.

Gill and Rahul have not done that well but both are excellent player of pace and bounce with enough experience. Great chance for them to deliver their best series.

3 lefties in top 7. Batting looks pretty good and so does bowling with Bumrah, Shami, Siraj and Kuldeep. The 4th pacer Harshit Rana or Akashdeep can be tried in Brisbane and Perth although they will find hard to contribute with bat, being their first overseas tour.
