Doesn't he understand how necessary is it to manage Bumrah's workload? He says ,injured?go to rehab ,comeback fit Get injured once again, repeat step 2 Rinse repeat There are certain players whose workload management should be properly monitored Bumrah,Shami come in that category even Siraj Gill is clearly not cut out for t20s ,means Gambhir will endorse the Gill torture in t20s Edited July 14, 2024 by Suhaan Gollum, Need4Speed and SandeepMotta 3
Frustrated Posted July 14, 2024 Posted July 14, 2024 We will hv to wait & watch how things unfold under him. While this type of statement from him is totally uncalled for at this stage, there are teams which hv achieved fair amount of success in all 3 formats recently with the same set of players. Aus is a prime example, whose core players (5 to 6 of them) hv been playing all 3 formats. Eg: T Head, Warner, Hazlewood, Starc, Cumins, M Marsh etc. express bowling, AuxiliA and Kron 3

What he means is - players should focus also on original longer version than just get swayed by the slap and run brand of cricket. Off late the lure for money has increased the tendency to focus on the T20 format. He means to encourage all players to not just focus on scoring runs, but also on classical cricketing techniques that is so required in the longer versions of the game. Frustrated 1

Eg: T Head, Warner, Hazlewood, Starc, Cumins, M Marsh etc. India, in addition to Australia, focused on all formats and succeeded in doing that. The reason being, India had a core team that played all formats. Going forward, that core would have to be reduced from 5-6 players to 3-4 players. 2 each from batting and bowling departments. In batting, two players already have their hands up, Gill and Jaiswal. Another two-three batters that have the technique and potential for multiple formats are Iyer, Gaikwad, Sudarshan, and Jurel. All these batters have good technique and can emerge all-format batters. Ditto for spin department. Kuldeep is already a multi-format player. Washington Sundar has demonstrated the ability to learn and adapt quickly. Plus, having multi-format players will provide India with selection headroom. Frustrated 1

He needs to protected from useless bilaterals which btw cummo barely plays. He barely plays t20 bilaterals. Frustrated and Ultimate_Game 2

For me we need to Implement a conditio . 1 to 2 seasons.of full fledged ranji trophy before selection for IPL. Make it mandatory. That we can ensure our pace battery is ready for all formats.

Shreyas is not doing well off late, but he has been good. Particularly in white ball games. I have a feeling, if he doesn't break down as often as he does, he is a good contender for number 5 slot in Tests and ODIs. prudent_kreeda 1

putrevus Posted July 14, 2024 Posted July 14, 2024 It will be very interesting to see how India plays in Australia . This guy has been hyped up to the moon due to his jingoistic statements. There is no room to hide in five test series. Gollum 1

There are structural changes to be effected in indian team . Gambhir will be judged if he is able to remove/minimise some serious problems which is affecting the team performance and winnability like - special privilege to Stardom irrespective of form, individual interest above team interest, players hanging on beyond their time in the team, no backing serious talent even during bad times, no special task force to bolster the bowling attack and create a good pool of wicket taking bowlers, irregular opportunity to players with good potential at various levels be it india team, India A etc. Also critical to have a review why so many break down among pace bowling hopefuls and why they are not maturing quickly and become good even in one format .

Kohli fanboys already sharpening their knives for Gambhir The guy is hyped up as he was the MOM in 2 ICC tourney finals. He led from the front and then won 2 IPLs turning around the fortunes of teh franchise (KKR), and finally winning another IPL as the coach. The guy's a winner through and through and has showed up at every level. That's the reason for optimism for true Indian fans. Edited July 15, 2024 by Ultimate_Game deeppoint and Frustrated 2
