No , there were rumors that he will   be denied a ticket. Not only him but to a 100+ MPs. He took an honorable exit, much like Jadeja announcing retirement in T20s. He would be denied as his parliamentary attendance was minimal, never spoke in any debate. He was called a part-time MP.  He was not cut out for politics, good for him. He did good work in Delhi though.

Bhai OP India is half story. GG was extremely popular as MP.

Accelerated retirement for Kohli loading?

Good news for Sanju Samson and KKR players like VC, Venky, Harshit who have been unfairly overlooked in T20s.

yep, now GG as coach…kohli has no room for bsing around and skipping matches at will or sucking while batting in tests. GG will replace him real quick. Both have bad blood between each other too.

a little bad as well,Kela being his former franchise kaptaan will certainly get his backing

There is news he is not very much fond of Pantatunga playing short formats,if Pant has a bad outing in SL LOIs he will certainly have his place in risk (sad just when Pant started breaking the code of odi batting he got injured)

On the other hand Kela might return to t20s ,which is a huge red flag

Pant's records in short format go against him. He lacks composure and balance in his shots. Test cricket allows him to steady up and get to his best.

Particularly Harshit and Venky not even getting a shot in Zim series looks serious bad. They got Nitish Reddy who is a nobody in cricket but has strong political connections.

I don't think GG will support KL for T20's atleast.

ODI he may be, Tests 50/50. But T20's I doubt.

Gambhir was himself removed by Dhoni because of seniority and the fact that he couldn’t do well in Aus and Eng.

I have seen him cry about that many times, lets see what he does now.

Dhoni applied all such conditions on others (Sehwag, Bhajji, Laxman, Dravid) as well but himself never followed what he preached.

I doubt KL will get that much backing despite having LSG connections particularly given how poor he was this year.

GG is a big fan of Samson. He has often called Samson the best batter in the top 4, irrespective of whether he keeps wickets or not. Given Pant's poor returns in whiteball formats, GG will back Samson to replace him, more so if Samson has a good Zim tour.

Exactly. VC was unfairly made the fall guy for the 2021 WC performance

Does selection in India run on the whims & fancies of the coach?  Coach's job is to strategise and get the players ready for any series and may involve pre-planning in terms of the practice matches , type of players required etc.

Dont think GG will be directly involved in selection of the 15

Theoretically, yes.

But coaches and captains are often involved in squad selections. Remember the pictures shared where Kohli/Rohit sit together with the selectors to select the squad.

Also, coaches are heavily involved selecting the XI. So if a player of coach's choice is available in the 15, there is a good chance that he will have the coach's backing to make it to the playing XI

captain - yes.

coach - I doubt

Power should be with the captain and not the coach

I think in ODIs he has enough time to play himself in unlike T20s where he tries too much, for nearly 2 years before his injury he was averaging 40 in ODIs with strike rate of 110, which includes a series winning unbeaten 100 against England
