Truth is match is not on Nole's racquet, especially against Alcaraz and Sinner these days, more so in BO5. To a lesser extent, you can add Zverev, Medvedev.

Alcaraz especially plays at a much higher level than him. Nole needs him to have mental lapses, niggles etc. to compete. Both playing close to their best, no chance for the Serb. And today he is playing well below his best (in fact whole year his decline is apparent), should also add the nugget that he had a knee operation just before this tournament.

Nole's only chance today was for Alcaraz to have a nervy start (has happened a few times with him) and have low first serve %, serve is his main weakness. But neither of that happened. Result is foregone. But Nole may still clinch a set, Alcaraz has a habit of mentally checking out for 20-30 minutes out of the blue.

I don't think so, Novak's defensive game is still very very good.He still has best return in the game.

Novak has lost in finals during his peak too to guys like Stan and he lost in straight sets to Medvedev in 2021 finals.

Even if he losses today, I would not put beyond him to bounce back next year and win 2/4.

He is the greatest 21 year old in the history of the sport. He eats 21 year old versions of Nole, Fed, Rafa, Borg, Sampras, Becker etc. for breakfast, lunch and dinner....only exception being vs Rafa on clay!!!!!

Complete game, domination despite serve being his weakness, imagine the all round quality. And a mental beast, 12-1 in 5th sets.

He needs a great rival to push him to be better, maybe Sinner is the one especially on hard courts.

We will see. I don't see anything special in him

Not compared to big 3. I think he will end with maybe 14 15 Max

Era post big 3 just seems too weak

A "hamaare zamaane mein" unkal-waala post:

The most beautiful Wimbledon final I ever saw? 1984. McEnroe bt Connors 6-1 6-1 6-2.

Most people will call it boring,  but I was such a rabid McEnroe fan that I just loved the dominant put-down of a scrappy guy like Jimmy Connors.

McEnroe's 1984 record (82-2) is the most dominant single-year performance by any player - male or female - in the history of open era tennis. His first loss was when he blew the French final to Lendl.

He lost only one other non-Davis Cup match the whole year. To none other than India's own Vijay Amritraj!!

I still watch highlights of Andre Agassi on YouTube from time to time. Poetry!!!

Faker finding out what it is like to play a younger player who's actually good. @bones will still worship faker he's a lahori pook. Vulture and faker of the highest order faker. Every slam he has won since 2017 has been an utter joke.

When I was in school, this time of the year, Nadal would be doing well (me a Fedtard then), then Fernando Alonso in F1 (I was a big Schumi fan), and Spanish football team by the time I went to high school.

Now Alcaraz show, Spain in Euro finals.

Spain goes underrated when you talk of great sporting countries.

Amritraj is the most underrated Indian sportsperson of all time. How many wins against ATGs!!!!!

The problem was one of consistency. Guys like him are best described as mercurial. Every now and then they'd put up a great performance against an ATG, but fade away quickly. Not cut out for the grind.

Ramesh Krishnan was another such example. Once the game turned into something for physical beasts, it was over.

IMO, 1985 was a turning point. Boom-Boom Becker's serves simply blew everyone out of the court. Then came the baseline grinders and it was over for the twinkle-toes.

Amritraj was an asthma patient, chronic.

Still 20+ wins against Laver, Newcombe, Rosewall, Vilas, Ashe, Connors, JMac, Borg etc.

Greatest athlete from the subcontinent in that era.

2021 French Open dekha?

2018 W Nadal was way better and this loser wanted the roof to stay closed in sunny weather, 2020 AO Thiem was destroying faker till he pulled out his usual MTO shenanigans, against Fritz again at one of the later AOs, won't even talk about W2019. F2021 he lucked out against Nadal on a broken foot in the 4th set. Year after he got soundly thrashed just like the year before. His Wimbledon draws in particular have been a complete joke.

Bhai you have your biases I can see. Can't change your mind. Roof getting closed was his decision now?

Why you won't talk about 2019 SW19? Beat the ugly crowd that day, not just Fed.
