A friend remarked that not all boxing matches end in a KO or TKO and not all wrestling ends with a pin down. Judges are there too.

However the judges there have to be "more" objective as in count punches/jabs landed or takedowns not resulting in a pin. Even then there were likes of Don King  in pro boxing......

Still results in boxing and wrestling can be iffy sometimes with the judges.

But dancing is about aesthetics. It's not sport. So it makes sense what your friend said.

You get punched in the face in boxing. You can see visible damage. You can see who is hitting harder. You can tell what sort of damage is being dished out.

Dancing is about preference.

It's like watching a movie or art.

Interestingly MMA is not an Olympics sport ..... and breakdancing is.

With MMA my guess is the fighters don't want to fight multiple fights in a few days possibly screwing up their pro careers.

Boxing has the head protection in Olympics which allows multiple fights but the takedowns and grappling in MMA combined with the hits can be hard to do over multiple fights unless the refs are ready to stop fights very fast..... actually like Boxing.

Believe me the head gear does f all. It doesn't do shite.

You still feel it lol.

Need to demolish few useless stadiums and convert it to multi purpose ones.

Easily do able.

What India is actually lacking in is sporting infrastructure.  Talent will naturally emerge if we have proper facilities

Need to create something like Indian institute of sport. Like China has for their country.

Give scholarships for students who excel in sport. Waive fees etc.

Our problem is the people running these institutes. Look at how wrestling - which was poised to become something special got mired in politics and now is a disaster. Even if such an institute is brought in - it will be run to the ground by the politicians and bureaucrats.

Only places like Gopichand's Academy or other similar institutes can breed success in India.

It's not about corruption - more about human nature and politics. It can happen anywhere. Same thing happens in Africa.

Why does it happen less in developed nations then, if it's human nature? And why is Africa which is known for corruption the benchmark and not European countries for us? This almost sounds like a troll post with that user name.

Their systems are more streamlined. For one, politicians are rarely involved in running any sports bodies unlike in the majority developing parts of the world. Also, there is an amazing system connecting young athletes and having a super system to the pros in countries like the US, Aus etc. If you have been to any of the universities there you will know how much effort is put in to make athletes super successful - even the ones that only represent the university. There are school, collegiate and private systems that are honed and have the pedigree to know how to make the best use of talent in those systems. This is across almost all sports. Sports management is a profession that is taken very seriously in the developed world. This ties in nutrition, health and mental support for the athletes from their younger years. If you are identified as an athlete in the US for example - the kind of system you get to develop your skills in are outstanding. Maybe you don't get the big money until you become famous or accomplished - but regardless even our elite athlete can only dream of the kind of support that even a college level freshman at a small university in the US gets.

Btw. It's not like there is 0 corruption anywhere. The entire US women's gymnastics team was molested for a while before the guy was kicked out. Same with the swim teams of different countries. Who knows what happens under the hood? In China, for every success they churn out who knows how many have been trampled on and had politics played on? It's just that we see the successes and think everything is hunky-dory there.

Indians, African, Europeans and others are different groups of people ,we aren't all exactly the same.

With a record number of 21 Indian shooters set to compete in Paris in a few days' time, there is hope they will break the jinx this time around.

But several former shooters, including Asian Games gold medallist double-trap exponent Ronjan Sodhi and 2012 London Olympics rapid-fire silver medallist Vijay Kumar, among others, feel the preparations have been far from ideal, partly due to inordinate delay in the selection of the team and the way the preparations have been handled.

Be ready to be disappointed this time as well

indians by nature are traitors and hate seeing their own move up in life. jealousy is rife.

Always amuses me to see the group of men dancing behind the hero as he dances with the heroine in Bollywood movies. In real life most will be back biting him and envious of him. Yeah some of his friends too......

Tbf many other ethnicities are the same.  But Indians will go further and actually curse and wish something terrible to befall upon them. Cause they despise seeing their own kind succeed. Especially if someone is from a lesser known caste etc.

Horrible attitude.
