So Gambhir is getting all the coaches he wanted, BCCI is doing the right thing.You have to give the head coach his choice of coaches.

What do you mean by merit. Head coach decides what coaches he wants, if he feels like a coach with no experience is good for him based on his interaction with that coach.he should be allowed to be in the  coaching staff.

Merit is merit. Ability and past track record etc. Just like Gambhir was supposedly selected. 

 

A coach should be able to adjust with other coaches. Can't be allowed to bring his buddies in to make quick money.

 

By your logic, captain should be allowed to select players too.and there definitely would be bias. Whats the point of selectors then?

What is past record of Gambhir? Where has he coached? 

 

Yes coach should be allowed to pick his coaches, if he picks his own friends who are useless he will found out soon .He has to answer why he wants a particular coach.Players  are not idiots.

 

If something goes wrong coach is responsible and he gets fired not people who are picking the coaches if coach is not allowed to do so.

 

Similarly, captain is always allowed to pick playing XI from the squad picked.Captain and coaches always should have a input on what type of players they want to be picked into the squad.

lol no new guy is pakka democrat. There were multiple discussions about him disliking modi and why he shouldn’t be PM. He used to active poster here till 2014.  There was one more poster from New Jersey named outsider he also quit after 2014.

Input is different from picking them solely. Selectors are also responsible for team's performances. Selectors also get fired so why can't they select on their own?

 

In any professional environment you have to adjust with whoever you are working with and not bring your own favourites.

 

Squad is first selected by selectors only. Captain and coach should have input/vote but not the final decision.

Yeah he was mentor which is another name for same job. He is the common link and credited for reversal in KKR's fate with Pandit coaching them since 2022

Who said selectors are responsible for team's performances.How many selectors got sacked. 

 

Head coach has to feel comfortable with the coaches he is working with, and that is why he needs to get his coaches.

 

Captain if he does not feel comfortable with Head coach, head coach has to go. Captain is still the boss in cricket.

It's not the same comparison. Letting the coach pick who he wants is like allowing your architect to tell you whom he wants as his contractors. Board doesn't need to force a coaching role on a head coach unless it's someone they specifically have an eye on.

It's not forcing. Its giving jobs to people appropriate for the role irrespective of anyone's choice. Bowling coach for example needs to be well versed in bowling actions,fitness, be a good communicator. He'll converse more with players than Head coach. So why should head coach choose him.
