It is not the same when you lose the form and start declining.

 

Steve Smith, for example, in last 65 innings has scored 2521 runs only at average of 45(2020-present).

Root has scored nearly 4500 runs since 2021. with 16 test 100s. Don't think his form is dipping anytime soon.

 

It's only a matter of time he surpasses Tendulkar aggregate. The only question is if he will take fewer or more innings to achieve it.

 

I'm sure he could surpass it if he manages to score some big 100s or 200s.

ECB has made england play 10 tests already this year. And they are yet to play 7 more in this calendar year ( 1 - SL; 3 - Pakistan & 3 more with New Zealand).

 

He will cross 13k easily before end of year.

Root since 2021 has found new gear, he has scored 16 100s, he has been awesome.His technique is so simple with least moving parts.

Nobody cares about ODI, T20 records....in time Root will be the gold standard.
