That'll potentially destroy 2 careers. Let him play all 5 Tests and give him a chance to find his feet in Tests.

Irreplaceable and will be in the conversation of GOAT in their respective disciplines when they hang up their boots. India is lucky that these guys are good at difficult roles, roles where most teams have historically been found wanting: opening, keeping+batting, fast bowling. Can fit in Gill, Sundar, Sai, Jurel, Harshit, Nitish, Axar/Shreyas (only at home/SC) etc. in the next tier......maybe Sarfu as well. They can assist the big 3 well. Kuldeep is a unique case, somewhere between these two levels. Needs more backing from TM, and like all wristies, should be handled delicately. Future test core looks good, just need some new pacers to emerge. Prasidh, Siraj, Harshit, Akashdeep is workable for now but Bumrah needs a new Shami, and a workhorse like Ishant 2.0. Gollum Posted June 21, 2025 Posted June 21, 2025 GR Vishy famously got out for a duck in his debut innings (Bill Lawry's Aus in India, 1969-70 for a 5 test series). While he sat depressed in a corner of the dressing room, MAK Pataudi came and assured him he would get the whole series. Rest is history, one of India's greatest middle order bats and certainly the most clutch one before VVS, also India never lost a match when he scored a 100. So many greats started with ducks/low scores. Some of them had prolonged string of low scores at the start of their career. Even Kohli had a horror start in the 2011 WI tour where Fidel Edwards bullied him non-stop with short-pitched stuff. rollingstoned 1

Need one pace strike bowler to come through along with a pace all-rounder or two and this team would be competitive everywhere. Wish selectors had the balls to drop Rohit and Kohli after the NZ series and we may well have won BGT. That loss was purely due to the incompetent duo where everyone else - Jaiswal, Sundar, Nitish Reddy, Pant, Bumrah did pretty well, but it was difficult to overcome the incompetence of those two buffoons who made it a 9 vs 11 contest every game. lemsip, BacktoCricaddict, Gollum and 1 other 1 3

Agreed and a strangle down the leg side was a mode of dismissal which doesn't suggest a fundamental technical deficiency that can't be quickly fixed. Now that he's been picked he should be persisted with. Gollum 1

I think they are overloading Pant by asking him to bat at 5 and also keep wickets especially in conditions like we currently have. He could well need to bat 2-3 sessions and immediately be asked to keep wickets for 100+ overs. It would be very hard for anyone to keep their skills in both disciplines at the top level if they keep doing that. There is a reason why most keepers who are also good batsmen drop down the order or give up the gloves if they bat higher up in the order. Gollum 1

Those two pace allrounders can be NKR and Raj Bawa. Let’s see how they develop. India has made every u19 final from 16 onwards and there have been 2-3 good players from each “batch”. 16 - pant, sarfaraz, sundar 18 - gill, abhishek, riyan, arshdeep 20 - jaiswal, jurel, bishnoi Maybe bawa will be the 22 one. He was MoM in the final. Same batch as Jacob Bethell. Gollum, Ultimate_Game and tweaker 1 2

Anyways I think he will come good in the next couple of innings.
govinda Posted June 21, 2025 Posted June 21, 2025 Man agnikrish raghuvanshi needs to play fc. I believe he has potential to be good test player express bowling 1
crictime Posted June 21, 2025 Posted June 21, 2025 Just one innings. But a batsman friendly wicket on which other Indian batsmen scored plenty of runs. Watched the highlights and it seemed that it was a very poor line leg stump delivery. More than nerves, it was very poor execution of shot as it was there to hit for a 4. Hopefully he will place the ball well away from the fielder.

crictime Posted June 22, 2025 Posted June 22, 2025 Sai Sudarshan has got out to poor delivery in both innings. In the first innings he hit a leg side boundary ball to the keeper. Even in the second innings it was a bad ball which he got out to. The batting is not tough here. Not only is this bowling attack ordinary, they are not testing the batters as well. Nothing like how Jasprit Bumrah, Scott Boland, Josh Hazelwood, Kagiso Rabada test the batters in a tight hig quality over after over theoughout the entire spell. He needs to improve his batting to succeed at this level. iluv80085 and Lord 1 1
putrevus Posted June 22, 2025 Posted June 22, 2025 Nothing special in either innings.Nor did he look classy. He needs to open his stance a little bit. A good captain can always plan for his dismissal.
Prabhdeep Singh Posted June 22, 2025 Posted June 22, 2025 Looks pretty one dimensional, nothing exciting, no flare. Jurel and NKR look better in terms of strokeplay. express bowling, Frustrated and iluv80085 3

tweaker Posted August 1, 2025 Posted August 1, 2025 (edited) This should be last test for Sai. He should first start from Duleep Trophy to improve his batting . Edited August 1, 2025 by tweaker
tweaker Posted August 1, 2025 Posted August 1, 2025 Sai selection in the test series was wrong. He has a very average perfomance in domestic cricket, yet he was selected on the basis of perfomance in T20. He didn't play A matches and directly made his debut in test.
