MS Dhoni scored a duck on debut, so did GRD Vishwanath, i wont take this much seriously. Sai Sudarshan is going to be a gun player for India in the future.

My assessment on Sai after his role in the series is over. Well I found him mentally weak, catching has been poor, lacks off side game. But a very big negative on Mental toughness. He had a nervous body language every time he came out to bat. That's a big negative for me, especially in today's day in generation. Look at England openers, Jaiswal, Gill, they walk with confidence when they come out to bat. Sai unfortunately has been a big disappointment for me in this series. I had high hopes from him.

Nope. He is a predominantly off side player. Here he is avoiding his off side shots as he is worried about finding the slips. Before we glorify about Gill he was averaging 15 before this series. He also struggled against new ball. He also repeatedly got out to nip tuckers.

I really hope he proves me wrong, I haven't seen him bring his offside game at all,no cover drives. And the bold is a big worry for me. International cricket is not a place to worry. It demands performance, and he didn't perform.

Sometimes players surprise us. Sometimes players let us down. But we shouldn't be throwing youngsters under the bus so soon.   He was probably told to play cautiously whatever. In domestic he is an aggressive abtsman. Scored faster. But as an opener. Him and Jagadeesan were like DUckett/Cralwey for his state. Look at the scoring rate in the 2nd innings

These are not conditions where number 3 batsmen are going to rock along at 5 an over without taking risks.

Duckett and Crawley did but they needed a lot of luck to go their way. Konstas tried that for Australia when India played them and we know how long he lasted.

I saw Sai live at the ground yesterday and was impressed with his composure, Ashwin also agreed with that view on his podcast yesterday.

Indian top order batsmen have always struggled in these conditions. From what I have seen Sai has looked more composed than most I have seen in the last few years.

His control percentage suggests that. Just because he is defensive he gets the cop. OUr guys wants sixes, fours, edges flying over slips.  Sundar pretty much plays exactly the same way. But he bats down the order. Probably sai would have done much better down the order. NO.3 is a tough batting spot.

If he gets selected again for Indian test team, it would be disgrace and slap in the face for other young talented players who were overlooked for this bozo.

He will and should be selected. He will not encounter more challenging conditions that this in the future and to me he looked fine. I would take him over the England number 3 Pope any day of the week.

He won't if selectors have any brains. To call these conditions challenging itself is joke.He is not competing with Pope.Tilak Verma is any day better than this bozo.

India has scored over 3500 runs  in this series. They have not done even at home in their history. So stop calling these conditions has challenging.

Too early in career to write off. Deserves a few more series.

But one thing will say, this series had some real flat decks. Was series to embed himself.

I think the Stokes trap really disturbed his mind. Leg side trap. Regardless of track it was a tough opposition. Root didn't exactly set the stage alive.  Jadeja faced 100 balls more than Jo Root

I would say this English team is the worst of the sena teams.

See Sai has time on his side. Go back and work on your game. Nothing to say he cant raise game to score in Sa Nz or Aus. We have home series coming up, get over your nerves of international cricket.

Yea. I never ever believe Sundar to be a batsman for a long time. as he bats way down the roder for TN. But he keeps proving me wrong.  Probably down the order Sai might dow well. Back in the days players always get introduced down the order and gradually get pushed up the order. Ganguly batted at 3 on his debut. Same match Dravid batted at 6 on his debut.

He needs to go back to domestic cricket and score tons of runs. I don’t think he is ready in any format. His whole setup looks so confined, Ponting nailed it perfectly.

Nothing wrong for a young guy to go back and work on his technique.

Agree, if it's Sai vs Tilak Verma, Tilak Verma has nerves of steel. Sai has so far proved to be a mental midget, we don't want any Kl Rahul in the team.
