Bangladesh Tour of India 2024 - Pre series discussion thread

It is a massive series....I hope we maul these der futiyes.

These guys blames India for everything, including their recent flood. They forgot that India fought for their independence.

After the recent political turmoil and their decent performance (and potential series win) in Pakistan, I am eagerly waiting for them to come to India.

Also, remember they beat us in ODI series last time when we went there...so that badla is pending too.

Then this goat need to be taught a lesson for sledging out GOAT

All in all, I am totally pumped up for this series.

I couldnt care less what happens in NZ series that will follow. It is this series that I am looking forward the most personally

Life and Death situation for me.

But venues for BD series are Chennai and Kanpur. Can't change nature of pitches at short notice.

Chennai & Kanpur.

Rank turners.

Dharamshala & Bengaluru would be better choices, won't be rank turners and offer sufficient help for our quicks.

IIRC.  The chennai pitch was a patta during last IPL.   Pitches can be altered.  (If adequate time is allowed)

Agree...but usually IPL games are short duration.

But on 5 dat games, in Chennai, due to extreme heat; the moisture will evaporate quickly. So at times if not prepared, pitch will start to turn from day one.

I am ok if pitch turns on 4th or 5th day..but traditionally Chennai starts turning at day one or two itself.

That is really scary.   We should be mentally prepared for a 0-2 whitewash against BD.  (Especially after having witnessed how our batters played spin vs SL)

Jaiswal

Rohit

Gill

Kohli

Pant

Jurel (wk)....don't trust Pant's knees holding for long format, but he needs game time before BGT...unfortunately  Sarfaraz misses out

Jadeja

Ashwin

Kuldeep

Akashdeep

Bumrah/Shami/Siraj

Jurel must be tried over Sarfaraz as he has tools to succeed in Australia.

But I suspect reverse will happen and Pant will be given gloves.

Also Kela is bound to make a comeback in the name of eggsperience... This time in Middle order

Should prepare flat decks like we did vs Eng.

Rohit YBJ middle order will take care of their spinners.

Only Chokli has potential to get dismissed cheaply on a pancake vs spin.

Not necessary. Chennai and Kanpur can be high scoring pattas.

If you look at post 2011 tests in India:

2013 Chennai vs Aus, India scored almost 600 in response to Australia's 400., Dhoni 224 where he destroyed Lyon

2015 vs Eng, Karun Nair 300, KL 199, we declared at 750+ in response to England's 475 odd

2021 1st test vs England, Root 230, England 578 in first innings, we had too many brainfades in response

2021 2nd test vs England, raging turner But still we scored 600+ in our 2 innings, Rohit 160, Ashwin 100 in 2nd innings

Green Park both tests against NZ (2016 and 2021) were flat, especially 2021 was too flat and slow/low.

We can have traditional high scoring Indian wickets in these 2 centres, there will be reverse swing for pacers.

We have 17 straight series victories at home. You seriously think we will lose 0-2 to Toygers....especially after what we did to Bazballers once we kicked out Bharat, Patidar, Mukesh type trash.

Rains a lot in Dharamsala and Bengaluru in September.

Besides there is rotation policy, Dharamsala got 5th test against Eng (with huge English crowd in attendance), Bengaluru will host first test against NZ....both more prestigious than Ind vs Ban.

BD lost by innings both times in 2019, by 200+ runs in 2017 where they picked 10 Indian wickets in whole test match....we got close to 700 in 1st innings, declared out of boredom.

If they avoid innings defeat or keep margin of loss under 200 runs in either test, that will be a superior accomplishment than beating poyzzz.

I sense carnage by Jaiswal and co.

I hope you're right.

But spin is our biggest weakness and Bangladesh's sharpest weapon.

One wrong decision could knock us off...just like Ahmedabad 2023.

Mostly left arm spin... Taijul/Shakib can trouble him but he is still better against spin than Kohli.

He is no prime Pujara vs spin but much better player of spin than washed up versions of PuRane.

@Lone Wolf any chance of Eng or RSA reaching WTC F?

Assuming Eng wins this series 3-0, then 3-0 in Pak. Also RSA clean sweeping their weak opponents at home etc.

These 5 tests are important, secure 5-0 and we can breathe easy in BGT at least when it comes to WTC F qualification.

Tough to outclass us over 4 innings.....in last 10 years only Eng and Aus have managed to do that on our pitches, sparingly.

But we must avoid extreme pitches like Indore 2023, Pune 2017.
