That will raise a lot of questions. That's unfair advantage to the bowler. Suppose if the batsman starts using a steel bat or the likes, like Lillee did once. You will need to balance out the equation, and that would be stretching the line too far.

That graphite bat from Ponting.

I remember one of the sixes in that world cup game where he just changed the direction of the full toss from Zak, the ball flew to deep mid wicket for a flat six.

Graphite bat? It's illegal to use a bat which's made of any other material than wood. Are you sure Ponting's bat was made of Graphite or was it a marketing gimmick?

We have seen bats change, stumps and bails change, laws change, clothing change, protective equipment change for better, etc., but the ball still is probably the most primitive element in cricket.

And the ball gets impacted by a variety of factors including bat smashing it around, the pitch, the outfield, dew, overhead conditions, and maybe lights.

I don’t mind it if bowlers are allowed to “take care of the ball” using their natural external tools such as finger nails (using teeth, an internal tool, would be gross).

Not a bat made of graphite, but a graphite film on the light kookaburra bat.

Some of those shots were outrageous, even Gilchrist did not hit such big sixes in that World Cup.

So blatant, so shameless. No wonder they were unbeatable at home in those days.

If you give the current Pakistani team flat pitches and tampered balls then even Babar Azam would turn into Miandad and Naseem Shah into Waqar Younis.

Still, Waqar of early 90s had that kind of aura which even peak Shoaib couldn't match.

From 1990 to 1994, dream stuff...

That 'dream stuff' was built on tampering lol...Even then he mostly bullied the weaker teams only and got exposed against the stronger batting lineups. Choked in important WC ODI matches too. Most overrated pacer of alltime.

Guys like Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf would look like 'dream'  Waqar too if they bowled with a mutilated ball.

During the innings, Crowe dropped a delivery from Abdul Qadir at his feet and bent down to pick it up and lob it back to the bowler. "It was totally mutilated on one side with two or three deep scratches gouged out," he said. "I complained to the umpires but they did nothing."

Seems illegal though as the law states that the bat has to consist of only wood, and nothing else. It's akin to baseball players corking their bats, i.e. filling the bats with cork to make them lighter. Either way Ponting was a beast at the time and the match was already done after the opening stand.

Built on triggering collapses from 140/1 to 200 all out, courtesy reverse swing.
