The real man of crisis Not to discredit, but England in general is a place where lower middle order can create impact once ball loses shine and swing dies. putrevus 1 Link to comment
vvvslaxman
You have to split Jadeja's career into two halves. He dramatically improved his stat post 2019. Till 2018 AWAY - 12 tests 482 runs 26.77 avge 3 fifties. HOME - 28 tests 922 runs 34.14 avge 1 century 6 fifties After 2019 AWAY - 16 tests 730 runs 36.50 avge 1 century 5 fifties HOME - 18 tests 988 runs 49.40 avge 2 centuries 7 fifties cricspirit 1 Link to comment

Why not? That's basically how Curran won them the 2018 series! Same goes for the actual County games, where middle/lower middle order score massively these days. Link to comment

This is where I felt that we missed the trick in 2018 series where middle lower order did nothing especially with Pandya at 6(?). Link to comment
R!TTER
No one did anyhting till 6-7 even Eng had real poor returns & that was with us dropping about half a dozen or so catches every match! This is why we debated how we cannot have 4 tailender pacers & why jadeja was preferred over Ashwin post 2018 Eng as well. You also might not remember how I said Pant(?) dropping Buttler in third test was a bad thing, we allowed him to score a hundred IIRC & he carried that form in the next 2 tests. Link to comment

Point is you shouldn't be using SENA filter just for the heck for a no.8 batsman. Some might score by fluke like Agarkar 106 at lords, Mishra 86. Most consequential contributioncame at the SCG where a world class attack was one wicket away from clinching the series. Edited September 28 by vvvslaxman Link to comment

Dhoni also had a contribution when his team was actually 9 down and saved a test which ultimately resulted in winning the test series. Everyone has few 40s just like they have 50s and 100s. It's down to personal preference, whose 40s you want to mention and whose you don't. Link to comment

He was compared with Adam Gilchrist. Link to comment

In his very second series he made that 148 where he treated Akhtar with disdain after getting hit at the back of his head by a beamer i think. He already set high expectations. Link to comment
Gollum
Rate Ashwin's best bowling in SENA as Edgbaston 2018, 1st test, on a greenish pitch and overcast conditions. Pity we flunked a modest chase after a good start by openers, pitch was easier to bat as well compared to 1st innings. Edited September 29 by Gollum Link to comment
