Breaking records while playing only a single format is not so much admirable. Sachin did it while playing both the formats simultaneously. You won't have to make any adjustments when you are only a single format specialist. Bad habits from other formats creep into your game when you are playing multiple formats.

Sachin never had a 500 runs series (and he did play enough 4/5 test series), couldn't score big 100s or have mega series. There is a reason he could never touch 900 rating points as well, low peak for GOAT standards, more of a longevity guy.

There is no way Imran, Wasim and Waqar took all those wickets without ball tampering and umpires.Pakistan never had any great spinners other than chuckers.

All those guys have better home averages under 16 or 15 which is unfathomable without external help.

These pitches are as dead today as they were in 80s.

Qadir was their greatest spinner and averaged in mid 30s.

Their quicks benefitted from tampering, even used knives and scissors, protected by Shakoor Rana types.

He definitely underachieved in all the formats. Most times he was happy getting a hundred and threw his wicket away instead of scoring big daddy hundreds.

He had that quota of 1 century per series, and a few cute 30s and 40s to maintain his average.

Sachin played 0 5 test series at home and 3 4 test series at home. Out of those 3 test series of 4 matches, 2 were played in 2012-13.

0 series of 4+ matches in first 18 years at home.

Compare that someone like Lara

6 match series - 1

5 match series - 4

4 matches series - 5

Why only home?

Steve Smith scored 800 runs in an away Ashes in 7 innings. Lara 700 in 3 tests in Lanka. Andy Flower once scored 550 runs in a 2 test series in India.

It would have hurt Sachin more if he had longer series.

Naseem Shah has become too slow to be effective. His lack of height was always going to hurt him.

Pretty sure, after another couple of yrs, he will be the new Shardul Thakur & disappear from intl cricket.

Why are Pakistanis blaming Abrar. Is any spinner past or present  be able to contain run scoring on these cement roads. They are making him a scapegoat already.

Prime Sachin played a 5 test series in WI in 2002, scored 330 runs (Laxman, Dravid, Ganguly did much better) while Hooper, Chanderpaul scored 550+. WI bowling attack was Dillon, Cuffy, Pedro Collins types, weaker than present WI attack. We had Zaheer, Srinath, Nehra, Kumble, Bhajji.

India lost the series after taking the lead, that team was so overrated, especially the batsmen who couldn't get the job done in WI, Zim.

Just an example to show he got very less opportunities to play longer series.

Surely players have scored 500+ in 3 matches series also and away also, but most of them play lot of longer series. Missed many opportunities, converted some.

SRT had relatively very few opportunties. Even SRT had ~450 runs in 3 test series.

When Lara scored 798 v Eng at home, he had 423 runs by 4th test and 333 runs by 3rd test.

When Lara scored 765 v England away, he had 412 runs by 4th test.

When Lara scored 546 v Aus at home, he had 439 by 3rd test.

When Lara scored 533 v Eng at home, he had 405 by 3rd test.

When Lara scored 500 v Eng at home, he had 100 runs by 3rd test.

Surely SRT didn't have series like Lara had in SL, but rest of series weren't different from how SRT used to do in 3-4 test series.

Because their phaaast bowlers are untouchable.

I mean post the ball tampering Ws, they haven't been able to produce a test quick of the calibre of Ishant or Umesh, forget Bumrah, Shami. Still they hype them so much, in their minds Naseem is Malcolm Marshall reincarnated, Shaheen is better than Bumrah.

Not demeaning Sachin, just pointing out holes in his career. There is a reason he could never touch 900 points in ICC ratings. he didn't have a monster series or even year, Sure 1998 Sachin was great but even lesser players like Kohli and Clarke have scored 4 200s in a year. Ponting had back to back 1500+ test runs years.

Prime SRT also played hardly 68 tests in 1990s. Missed biggest scoring opportunitiy in tests due to scheduling.

Kiwis play more tests.
