Virat Kohli - When will the torture end?

Recommended Posts

I think there was a 30-40% chance of Ind successfully chasing 358 in 2nd test if Pant had stayed at the crease.  Clown Chokli threw Pant under the running bus & ensured the run out. There was never a run. That cost us the game. Continuing from where he left, he ran himself out today on yet another non-existent single. Relieved that he didn't run out pant (our best batter) today

How do you run yourself out after the night watchman got out in the previous over and you have like one over left in a days play?

Ran Pant out in the previous match and ran himself out here. He's mentally not there at all.

Selectors have to step in and kick him out of the team. He can play IPL and traumatize RCB fans.

Yes, he can play for another 10 years unlike Dhoni. IPL should be like retirement house for these guys, not Indian test team.

Chokli's paid bot has been absconding since the end of 2nd test.

He only shows up when Kohli manages to get into double digits, or to blame bowlers or to take shots at youngsters.

That guy is the biggest piece of shyte I've seen. He's the sort of person who'll gladly see India lose as long as Kohli scores a 100. He doen't give a shyte about India. He only cares about Kohli and will blame everyone else for Kohli's incompetence - even if those players are newbies/youngsters.

I was expecting him to show up today saying some bullsh!t on similar lines: "Well, Kohli got run out.  It was an unfortunate moment. There is nothing wrong with his technique. Run out can happen to the best of batters.  Why talk about a run out when the series is already lost? Why are fans being emotional? "      Unbelievable that the guy has been on ICF for almost a decade posting utter non sense in 9 out of 10 posts.  Only agenda is to bootl!ck chokli.

Unfortunately he's like majority of Indian fans. They care about their own players and aren't bothered about team results. You'll see Samson fans who're happy that he's selected in Indian team, or Ruturaj fans who're upset he's not in the team, or Rohit & Kohli fans who only care about their performances.

You rarely come across India fans who genuinely care only about India's performances. I haven't met anyone in my friend circle who simply care about India winning. Nearly all of them have their favorite players and wouldn't care if the team loses as long as their player performs. Or they'll criticize the team for not selecting their preferred players.

I would gladly take all 11 players from Assam or Tamil Nadu or any other state/region as long as India wins. Sadly most people don't subscribe to this point of view.

Kohli is done mentally too. Such an experienced player taking a suicidal run 5 mins before the close of play.

He's checked out mentally. But will continue to torture us just like RCB fans. We're getting the worst of MI and RCB franchises :((

Taking Gavaskar too seriously. He always blabbers the best place for a batsman is the non-striker end.

Ran Pant out when we had an outside chance of winning the last test. Now ran himself out just before end of days play.

When Lara struggled for 4 years, he took advice of Sobers and cut down on his flashy backlift.

Lara actually said that when Sobers adviced him such, he said to Sobers 'this is how i have been since a 7 year old'and Sobers said  'but you are now 30 years old and your eye is weaker'.

When Tendy struggled for that fateful 2002 season ( Tendy suddenly went from world's best batsman to basically Mohammed Shami with the bat in hand for a whole damn year), he cut out the cover drive, changed his guard and fixed his problems.

What has Kohli done from the day he's arrived on the cricket scene ? Name one thing Kohli improved in his last 15 years of international cricket - not even Bradman or Sobers himself arrive in intl. cricket at age 21 with full progress done and no new things to be learnt. Those who followed Indian cricket from 80s can easily see how much even mediocre batsmen can progress in their careers if they work at it - Sidhu went from being a complete strokeless wonder against anything bowled at over 100kph ( he couldnt drive, couldnt cut, couldnt pull, nothing !!) in the 80s to a fairly good strike rotator and ferocious puller of the ball even to pacers by the time mid 90s rolled around, so much so that a man who couldn't average 30 in tests vs the likes of Peter Willey and Graham Dilley, went to averag 50+ in a series against Ambrose & Walsh in their own backyard !!!!!!!

But what has kohli progressed in ? Nothing. Has his spin game improved ? Nope. Because kohli is not confident in using his feet - he thinks like a white dude, where 'using feet against spinners'  always means 'take 3 giant leaps outside ur crease and tonk him for a six' - Kohli always does THAT against spinners when he uses his feet but he never uses the crease well, never uses small feet movement to get closer to the ball for spinners, etc. Nothing has changed in 15 years.

Against pacers, Kohli has been supremely gifted because he is by far one of the best cover drivers AND pullers of the ball, meaning anything short or full, he will absolutely murder. But man has a huge flaw from day1 - he does not square cut the ball well and rarely, if ever, plays that shot.
This is a huge flaw for a top order batsman to have, because square cut is your weapon of choice for when the bowler gets his length right but line wrong - you cant drive good length or short of good length balls that are slightly wide, but you can square cut them. Kohli does not do this, instead, he's always relied on his quick eye and 'standing tall' to drive the ball on the backfoot when its good length/short of good length.

That works as a 20-something guy, when your eye is quick enough to compensate. It doesnt work for 30+ dude and Kohli as 30+ has been pretty much found out due to this one tragic flaw in his batting that he has made 0 effort to rectify in a decade and half.

Against spinners he wont use his feet, so get him to lunge or play on the backfoot and he will get out like a typical gora batter like Graham Thorpe or Daryl Cullinan.
Against pacers, he never learnt to cut, always relying on his superior eye to get on top of the ball to drive it.

Well, that doesnt work when you are 35+ and your eye is gone. Kohli will go down as just a good batsman, not great, in the test format, because he is one of those rare mega-talent batsmen who come with ATG potential but in their entire career do jack **** to rectify their flaws and progress their game.

TALUNT and fitness will only take you so far if you dont work to improve your craft and kohli does not work to improve his craft, never has and wont start now at 35+.

When Kohli came he couldn't play pull shot, was exposed on test debut series in WI, later worked on that and became a good player of short pitch bowling.
