Your timeline is off; he cut that cover drive only in Oz when *nor was giving him out even on balls bouncing half a foot over the stumps—his bigger slump was post-2004 Oz tour in India for about 1-2 years, depending on how you look at it. It ended in Eng tour 2007, technically Bangers tour before that, but they're certified Minnos so. Link to comment
DeepSpace
Chokohli has been sucking since the Perth test hundred. That was 5-6 years back. Since then he has sucked. The 'shoulder before wicket' incident was in the 99-2000 tour of Oz. In the 2002 tour of Oz, Tendy kept getting out to cover drives, so he cut out the cover drives when he did that whole 240* test in sydney. Yes,his bigger slump campe in 2005 or 6, when he averaged like 25 with the bat - his only other genuinely bad season before 2011, except for the 2002 season. Link to comment
R!TTER
There was no tour of Oz in 2002; it was the NZ tour on absolute green/seaming wickets, where India crossed double digits only twice (3?) in 2 tests & 7 ODI. Just around a year after that, we had the Oz tour in 2003/04 or so. Now if you're referring to the NZ tour overall, I wouldn't call it a slump as the pitches were totally skewed towards pacers that time. But it also kind of assured us we got to the finals in the 2003 WC; that tough grind helped us out massively, although we still lost badly to Oz. Link to comment

That is the year Tendy had like 180 runs from 9-10 innings. That is the year he first truly went into a slump and then gave up the cover drive for the sydney epic. Your 'shoulder before wicket' to *nor was either in Adelaide or Sydney test of the 99-00 tour of Oz. Link to comment

He is not talking about shoulder before wicket which was in 99/00. I think this was a Bucknor decision to a Gillespie ball that seemed to bounce above the stumps but was given out anyway in 03/04. nevada
36 years old(on paper - probably closer to 40), washed up since ages and a disconnected NRI of late. Why can't he just retire and chill? Ultimate_Game and express bowling 1 1 Link to comment

Frustrated
Ever since I started following cricket I kept hearing the term 'walking wicket'. Never heard anything like Running wicket. Credit to chokli's legacy which has enlightened me about that. Lord, cricspirit, nevada and 5 others 1 7 Link to comment

Yep, same reason why Dhoni keeps dragging himself into his IPL team and just cannot let go. At least he is doing it only for his club and not like Kohli. Ultimate_Game 1 Link to comment

Full toss, run out and now hit wicket or obstructing the field? As long as he doesn't run others out (the way he ran Pant out the last match), I'm good. His ceiling is around 20 and most likely to get out in single digits. Link to comment

Rajiv
This guy needs to sit in his moody wife's lap. I think he has no desire to play cricket since he is so big now with all the $$. We need to rebuild, and maybe give Sarfaraz a little more chance, even Rohit looks flat now. Frustrated and Soorma Bhopali 1 1 Link to comment
