List A is 50 over format.

 

First Class is 4 day / 5 day format.

IPL seems to be the criteria here, but still unable to fathom why Rinku Singh who has a very good first class average and is a IPL star not at all in the reckoning

If look closely,we can observe that they have not selected good middle order batsman. 

Sarfaraz was not selected and only got opportunity when Iyer,Pattidar, failed continously.

They have ensured that it looks there are no alternative in middle order and mostly  top order batsman are selected.
