its the most lazy way out of taking a token sweets gift for bongs, because sondesh is the least messy sweet of them.

 

 

Sondesh, esp if made with nolen gur, is a winner for 3 reasons:

 

(1) Its sweetness is muted - unlike the sweets dipped in syrup or sweetened milk.

(2) Texture is unbeatable. Crumbly but soft enough to give a satisfying mouthfeel.

(3) Uncomplicated - No elaichi or other flavours to mess with the subtle caramel-y note of the gur.

 

I don't eat sweets anymore, but if I ever cheated, Sondesh would be the first one I'd cheat with.

Sandesh never appeals to most bongs coz it's by far the driest sweet we have and bengalis especially love particularly wet sweets like rasmalai, pithepuli,  payesh etc.
