CT (huge advantage as played in one venue while others had to shuttle around)

Pakistan got the same advantage in T20 World Cup 26 and laid eggs.

They have every WTC Final in England but they never win. Same happened in ODI WC 75, 79, 83.

In the end a good team wins.

and Asia Cup (made-up tournament that does not even have a consistent format) are pretty worthless

Lack of consistent format does not dilute a tournament win.

So, CT and Asia Cup are useless but Ireland bilateral is super important ?

and pale in comparison to those test maulings in what is at best a 4/5 team sport.

Test performance has been bad and needs strong constructive criticism.

Feast or famine coach. Super high highs in white-ball (team still has to execute, even if they have some built-in advantages, so kudos) ....

I would rather have a coach who wins big tournaments and loses bilateral LOIs than the other way round.

and super low lows in red-ball.

Partly his fault and partly due to our test team being in transition.

When a team has 2 or 3 superstar passengers and then has to replace 4  long time test players ... Ashwin, Kohli, Shami, Rohit ... it is not easy. This transition should have been planned much earlier.

No new pacer was developed by the last TM either when they played Mukesh, Unadkat etc. in tests. And we suffered in Australia 2024 / 25 due to that. England 25 draw was not bad.

That being said, there is no excuse for losing 0 - 2 to SA at home. Need more specialists in tests. And deserves strong criticism.

An interim solution is to retain him for white-ball coaching and bring in another staff for tests.

I am in favour of seeing for 1 more year in tests. He has brought in specialist high ceiling bowlers like Suthar and Gurnoor.

If GG fails in tests in the next 1 year too, a new red ball coach will definitely be needed.

listen these things simply dont matter

ECB dont give a fudge either. Scheduled it 2 days after the 5th test.

Test your plans in foreign conditions.

Offcourse use these bilaterals get your best combination for WC

But you need to pick right personnel in the first place, people like Sundar,Prasidh simply don't fit in

Tests is not in right shape right now, it a combination of Ind picking wrong players and there were no replacements made for 4/5 players.

This will take time to rebuild the side and req.correct selection.

T20is--Ind already won the wc, these are just 2 games. No need to worry about right now, try diff. players ,combinations , develop few players.

Odi-- Wc is in sometime, Ind still lacks the fire-power and batting depth.

Overall issue is bad selections -- Sundar (all formats), Sai , Praish playing t20is and test.

Where they have been good-- T20is , they understood how t20 should be played. Fast bowling this is big plus for this TM -- Added rana, gurnoor, Pradish (should only play Odis).

Dravid and Shastri both were unlucky rather them being bad for not getting hand on trophy.

Once Dravid and India broke thru , they did not need Gambhir to win CT.Gambhir was there for the ride, his role was minimal at best.

LIke these t20s are proving team was winning overcoming Gambhir as they had very good captain in SKY.

Who are the geniuses who said we don't need superstars. There is no superstar in this Indian team who can rally the team around him either in batting or bowling.

Brook is a superstar, England is building their team around him in whiteball cricket.

Gambhir was an insecure idiot while he was playing and it has reflected in his coaching, he does not want team with superstars as they will overshadow him and take away his lime light.

He does not have any batting credentials either to help players. What is his bowling coach doing, he is another idiot just sitting and doing nothing while bowling has gone to dogs.Fielding has gone back to 1960s.

Chief selector and Head coach are becoming more important to this team than players.

Bumrah didn't play CT2025.

Still we won.  Varun C is always handy on slow low dubai tracks.  (Useless elsewhere)

Somebody steps up for champions team. That is how Australia won most tournaments. It was not always mcgrath, ponting.  Now we have become chumpions team.  Ireland introduces two debutants, lost a few key playerse. Yet they roundly thrashed our team despite winning toss.

Gambhir tenure is turning out quite weird:no:

Home whitewashes vs NZ, SA but a credible 2-2 vs Eng away.
ODI series losses but won CT when it mattered
T20 Invincibles & WT20 Champion but then 0-6 immediatly afterwards.

Not sure about that anymore. NZ manhandled that clown team last month.

Aus was traditionally a really strong fast bowling team. We never were in odis until the arrival of Bumrah and Shami. While Shami is a match winner Bumrah can flip matches in a moment with couple of tight overs. We will definitely miss him the most even more than Sachin or Virat
