Work around them and don't atleast make other mistakes. GG did.

Problem is that Rohit and Kohli are way too powerful to be overruled. Rohit essentially has been hand-picked by Jay Shah and has much more say than Gambhir. Even if Gambhir wants to play a particular player, say Harshit, he can't if Rohit goes for Siraj. Also, the other point is that if 2 players are non-performers and still permanent fixtures it becomes difficult to work around them. Rohit and Kohli bat in top 4 and have to drop at least one of them to strengthen the batting. The reason we won the Eng series was that Kohli took a break and we played Jurel and Axar.

 

Nearly everyone here knows Jurel and Axar would've added much more value. Surely Gambhir knows that too but his hands are tied if Kohli has to be played and Rohit prefers Siraj. Kick the seniors out and then judge Gambhir.

Kohli was replaced by Patidar who did nothing too. Jurel would have played anyway for Pant/Bharat. Axar too could easily play for Siraj here.

Knowing and doing are two different things. If GG can't even do this much, there's no point to his selection.

It is understood that Virat and Rohit can't be touched.But cant Gambhir remove non performing Rahul and Siraj.If people who have seen Jurel,Akashdeep wanted them in play in 11,why Gambhir stuck with Rahul and Siraj.

Coz if Rohit puts his foot down that he wants Rahul and Siraj, nobody can do anything. Rohit is not a pro-active captain who makes changes until it's forced on him.

Rohit chalu is escaping this series,he's hiding and try to emulate lucky Kohli last time who used to have zoom sessions with Rahane and shastri and made strategies
