Trump has apparently offered F-35 5th gen fighter aircrafts to India. I think we can take the offer.
Ofcourse, SU-57 from Russia suits us better given the proximity of India and Russian Technology. But I think in this context, F-35 will give us an edge in terms of Indo-US relations.

IAF is not interested & joint statement revealed India ain't considering it "yet".  F35 is extremely costly and its maintaince is doubly costly.  Those Hangers aren't compatible to IAF.

Furthermore F35s come with a lot of strings attached to it & with no ToT.  F21 will also be force fed to us.

Indian defence experts are inclined more towards Su57 & are hoping Modi won't give in to Trump's pressure tactics.

Musk few months back during Biden Administration called F35s junk.

With India'a indigenous AMCA still decades behind India is in desperate situation.  Pakistan will likely get their hands on Chinese 5th gen J20 in coming 2-3 years.

I feel IAF will go for Su57 for time being with ToT.

If we reduce tariffs on Harley Davidsons or some American gas guzzler cars which are hardly bought by Indians, get Fighter jets, nuclear infra, Oil and Lentils (ban Kanedian lentils I say)  from ISA, India will be least impacted on its exports by the reciprocal tariffs. Even CNN is praising :woot:

You are not seeing the potential impact on consumer goods with reciprocal tariffs.

Imagine if there is a hide and seek biscuit at 30 rupees and you also get a chips ahoy biscuit  at roughly similar price, people especially expats will buy more chips ahoy. It will lead to brand wars and may even close local businesses.

And god forbid if star link comes to India, then Jio and Airtel will get royal phainty...

What a load of nonsense. You can deploy S-400 on Pakistani border and always Deploy US compatible or indigenous defence mechanisms (allredy indigenous has been deployed over Delhi) in south India and sea bases along with NATO machinery.

iMO, We could and should clear and buy both Su-57 and F-35. It gives us leverage

Anyone who is tech can easily say that existing F-35 can be made autonomous.

Pakistan's rumoured J35 figher jet acquisition has completely made India push the panic button I have to say.

Safe to say AMCA is now under cold storage.  Import lobby all the way.  Jernails won baby.

But this can also not be denied.  We can't let Pakistan dominate our airspace especially after the dogfight in feb 2019.

I think F35 could be a reality.  Pakistan was not afraid to use American Amraam missiles on their F16s against despite it needing permission from USA.  Same way I think India can also come up with a clause to use F35s against Pakistan as per its wishes.  Though I would still not trust US when it comes to American equipment against Pakistan.

There are no engine issues with Su-57.
Su-57 is designed to be operational with Al-41F1 engine, with the Al-51 being its intended final engine iteration for future upgrades. The Al-41f1 is in production, meets specifications and Al-51 is in development. So what is the issue ??

This is classic american export lobby trying to hand us an American lemon.

The Su-57 is a far better suited stopgap 5th gen fighter, particularly since its supposed to be the best 5th gen fighter-killer on offer and comes at a far cheaper cost from a more reliable partner.

The weakness of Su-57 is that it doesnt have as good rear aspect stealth, meaning its not best suited for stealth penetration attacks/strikes. but it is by far the most manueverable of the 5th gen fighters, with comparable front on and side on stealth as other 5th gen, designed to maximize hunter-killer role against stealth jets.

Fair points.

My concern is with the 41 engine.

Power to thurst especially. What are your views on that.

Why is Qatari Emir in India.

Judging by Nirmala Jis budget, Looks like India was very well aware of reciprocal tarriffs which Trump signed a day before meeting Modi.

During Munich Security Council, Jai Shankar made a statement to fellow panelists and audience which was along the line "US President has 2 years before shape of his presidency changes due to Senate election. But If you are feeling the heat as unmanageable for these 1 months, then think what he will do in next 2 years"

To which a Portuguesse and few more enquired whats coming? Offcourse he smiled while UAE representive just said "may be a UN Permanent Seat to India"

Is One China Policy of US comes to an end?

Quote

The US State Department has dropped a statement from its website which stated that Washington does not support Taiwan's independence

As well as dropping the phrase, the factsheet, which was updated last Thursday, also says the US will support Taiwan's membership in international organisations "where applicable".

Commenting on the changes, a spokesperson at the American Institute in Taiwan - the US' de facto embassy on the island - told local media that the fact sheet had been "updated to inform the general public about [the US'] unofficial relationship with Taiwan".

"We have long stated that we oppose any unilateral changes to the status quo from either side."

Meanwhile in America

Vaccinations have dropped (thank you anti-vaxxers for ushering in the bozo-show).

16,000 dead due to flu

CDC advisories on flu shut down

Measles is spreading in Texas.

CDC vaccine advisory meetings "postponed"

Next up: Polio.

Welcome to 1802.
