Varun C is indispenable and a wkt taker. He should be in the team ahead of 3rd specialist pacer.

He is indeed damn good but it'll be tough to find him a place in first XI for the WC. We already have Bumrah and Arsh so can't have another tailender. Hopefully he should work on his batting/fielding too.

Everyone loves this approach when we win. As soon as we lose you will start hearing match awareness, respecting conditions, consistency blah blah.

Current Abhishek Sharma will only give 1 such inning every 4-5 games. Ask yourself if you can live with it.

Pitch was very tricky it was not a flat pitch & everyone struggled except Buttler and Abhishek so this inns carries a lot of weight imo.

Fact that he was the only one to smash Archer and Wood on this pitch was an impressive feat.

He was attacking Coetzee too in SA who was bowling 90-92mph.

Varun C has consistently shown over the last couple of years - IPL and in T20Is - that he's difficult to hit and is a wkt taker during the middle of the innings when batters try to hit him. He should be in ODIs as well.

Strict no no for ODIs. He is just a T20 bowler.

I think India has enough people who can play both ways in this line up. If you look at it only Surya and Abhishek are full time hitters. Samson, Rinku, Pandya, Tilak all can buckle down if needed. The fact that the team has multiple gears is nice to see. The ODI XI for CT is a worry as the top 6 all have just one gear and it is going to be horrible to watch. Yes we will lose a few games but again with this approach we will win more than we lose.

I feel our batters have lost the art of buckling down. Sachin, dravid, Virat at peak and on crease one felt would never get out. Hopefully you are right about batsmen you named.

We will know based on what they don't in t20 world cup and not in bilateral but approach has been refreshing no doubt

We'll struggle in WT20 coz they'll replace Abhishek and Tilak with Gill and Ruturaj :giggle:

This was what they did earlier as well. Kohli and the seniors used to sit out of bilaterals, the team looked a million dollars and when WT20 came along, the seniors came back as well with their manhoosiyat and tuk tuk.

3 is the max. That leaves batting till 8, which is good. You need to have 3 good bowlers and complement them with 3-4 other options such as Pandya, Parag, Abhishek, Axar, Rinku etc.

Think we will see the return of Gill, Gaikwad, Pant, Dube, Siraj, Chahal before next WC. Won't rule out return of Ro-Ko, Jadeja as well for experience.

I usually think the same..but if this young team keeps on playing this fearless cricket..then I doubt much will be changed..Gill is not Roko..probably Boom,Jswal,Parag and Yadav may come..

This is the BEST T20 team that we have ever had! I hope they continue with this unbridled and uncomplicated style. There is no room for consolidators or unidimensional players unless the player is exceptional. Imagine when Bumrah comes back, this team is going to be very strong in all aspects.

T20 is the only form of cricket that I can bear to watch Indian teams play at the moment as we have dead weights in the team in other formats.

I am only worried about Gill and Pant comibg back in T20 XI and screwing the balance and intent.

They can very well turn out to be next rotten superstars with massive IPL clouts.

Goenka was massaging Pant ego in a recent interview while Gill is the next BCCI superstar project.

Doesn't matter. Those are solid 12 overs that are hard to get by..

We can pack batters till 8. Hardik, Nitish, Axar and Parag will bowl 8 overs

These 4 will be good additions, and can complete a solid 15 members squad.

Going by Rohit's SCG interview, don't rule out comeback of seniors for eggsperience come the WC. These oldies are gloryhunters/free riders, shameless to the core, will be in their nature (and interest of their PR/sponsors) to jump into something good and try to steal the thunder from youngsters.

That won't allow the batsmen to bat freely like they are doing now. We need batting depth. Best option is Varun himself works on it or Bumrah or Arshdeep improve enough to be no. 9
