Graceless and classless narcissist. Carlsen could learn some manners and decency from Gukesh.

This is the issue with many nerds. Mofo's are incapable of complimenting the rival for good work. They often discount it.

There shouldn't be a fight at all. Gukesh is a telugu brahman settled in Sambaar land. Telugus are perfectly ok to ack the TN's superior chess infra.

It is just that SOME twitter/DMK/language tribal tammies do not want to loose the exclusive bragging rights.

For a change I am not seeing that cringe/Sycophantic term "Vishy's Children".

:cheer:to TN's chess infra and the junior level coaches.  And also to sponsors and also to Vishy for being inspiration for several kids.

:cantstop:

Never seen any language issue with Telugu folks (Telugu , Hindi , English...doesnt matter, just get on with it) Neither do the apartment owners take 6 month-11month rent as deposit like the greedy landlords in Bengaluru. One of the highest IIT selections, one of the biggest IT sectors in the country, one of the best movie industries...  No fuss. Tribal tammies would learn from this?

Not sure about the deleted tweet thing but I had watched the recap, the above about Nakamura/Caruana is taken out of context.

He was asked if Gukesh was ready to be among the greatest players ever in history. He basically agreed and said he is on that path but still it's early to say. He used the above names to say how right now his play in the WC wasn't as dominant to suggest World domination right now which isn't wrong tbh. We've said similar things during this match

Gukesh should hopefully improve a lot, even Carlsen and Nakamura feel so, with the win he should gets loads of self belief and confidence. But he will have a target on his back, for no other reason but for being the World Champion.

Everyone will come hard to beat him no matter the format, including the Indian lads and especially the ones who were left with crumbs that Magnus was leaving while sweeping all the trophies. It is how it is.

I'd love to see Arjun stake his claim.. Not sure if he qualified for the Candidates already, he's still 2nd I think on the FIDE circuit for 2024

The reason being the landlord/worker middle castes  seeing the reality of futility of agriculture(and also that kanging on history is a expired ticket) and adopting the brahmin style education/and bania style capitalism. And they have prospered.

The flipside is that a telugu, being supremely practical, is less likely to be as artistic as a mallu or a bengali. And can come out as materialistic.  And there are that incessant caste fights, which are consuming Andhra Pradesh.

Tammie society is interesting. They do have that supreme language tribalism.  Even a Tam brahmin, inspite of being bullied/harassed by the Dravidian ideologues, want to open companies in sambaar land.  The tammie elite have done a great job of pushing the state towards industrial development. It IS literally one of the best states in India.

Being self critical is a good quality. Will make one improve even more. Also being able to praise others for their good qualities :two_thumbs_up:

Don't want to labour thus point. But the cream of southern states especially TN is truly world class. It's not just about culture of intellingence. It's a culture that promotes and values intense devotion.

Arjun with 4 points after 5 rounds on Day1 of the FIDE World Rapid Chess Championship. Carlsen with 2.5 points and Arjun's competitor for candidates, Fabi at 3.5 points. Raunak Sadhwani with 4 points has beaten Alireza in the 1st round.

Raunak is very strong in these shorter time formats. Blitz probably his best format. Very strong win with black

It's a tricky format this Rapid event with how then qualifying works. Could see a few upsets. Caruana lost to another underrated faster format player Murzin whose probably under 2600

Another plus is that Gukesh won the championships in classical and didn't need tiebreaks. Magnus needed tiebreaks twice to retain his World Championship.

Garry Kaspy is much better than bitter Russian troll Kramnik in being gracious

Kramnik  (yesterday)  told a news channel  that Chess has lost its charm due to cheating.

He has been banned by Chess.com to participate till June 2025 or something like that I remember reading.

What a fall for someone who I thought was a gentleman in chess once upon a time.

Nah, Kramnik never struck me as a gentleman, even going by his comments in the past. lots of backhanded compliments, grudging praise, russian supremacist (despite being half-ukrainian), etc. Perhaps this offends anyone, but it is how I have come to see him - just my 2 cents

Carlsen's "bluntness" is just Scandinavian arrogance. As someone who worked with quite a few in academia - and who spent extensive time in Stockholm and Oslo - I can tell you this for a fact. they are way more condescending, as a rule of thumb (obviously exceptions exist), than other nations like germany, UK, france, USA, etc
