Big save from Arjun, some very clutch moves to draw that game. Still in joint lead

18 yo Murzin beat Nakamura, his second big scalp after Caruana yesterday.

he is the same age as Gukesh, but we know who won Candidates, World Championship, etc. :)

Yeah he has achieved nothing compared to Gukesh, he is under 2600 rapid. But he is doing very well staying in contention with these big scalps, have to appreciate that

its a stupid rule

Many sports have strict dress code, can you wear coloured jersey in test cricket? Or casuals in professional billiards/snooker?

Heck, all white policy in Wimbledon is so strictly followed that there shouldn't be black lining even in your socks, band aid, wrist band, heck underwear. Otherwise disqualification. Even cream colour isn't tolerated.

Just professionalism, been there for eternity. Carlsen has played these tournaments for last 15 years, he dressed formally in a recent freestyle event.

Most likely he rage quit after a horrible day one where  he got embarrassed by lower rated players. He was out of medal contention and on course to have his worst finish in this tournament, since forever.

2 days ago, Gukesh and his dad (Doctor Rajinikanth) met Thalaiva.

When two Rajinikanths meet, no force in rest of the world to match that aura, like two supermassive black holes colliding. No wonder Maggie wants to run away from FIDE.

Dunno about other sports, but in cricket its due to color of the ball. We've had incident like Ambrose-Dean jones too.

There has to be logic in everything.

Maintaining decorum/professionalism, rules are a must otherwise we are barbarians.

Give leeway tomorrow and some lady chess player will come in a bikini top, our guys with lungi baniyan gambit, stupid distraction.  As long as these rules are communicated in advance what's the harm in complying?

Vulgarity is a different debate.I understand how women are not allowed to wear shorts/ show cleavage etc

How is jeans distracting?

Then people will start justifying torn jeans. Has to stop somewhere.

Stops when it affects the game like distraction or the dresses are somehow linked to political/religious messages.

Everything else should be allowed.

I like listening to his dad....he is like professional, practical, emotional, passionate - everything rolled into one.:cantstop:

I guess chess parents have to be like this. Maybe abhimanyu mishra has similar dad who helped him become youngest GM. In Gukeshs case - youngest world champion.:hatsoff:

Haven't listened to him much. Remember being impressed by Nihal's dad in an interview few years back.

In recent interview to sagar, he mentioned since gayu has been with gukesh, gukesh handles losses well.

Before that, he wondered whether seeing his (rajnikant's) face after a  loss, gukesh would have felt worse. This is relatable as parents do feel sad after childs loss.

Yep, that's pretty much it. We may be seeing the faster-than-expected decline of Carlsen, which augurs well for Ind upcoming players

Gukesh has taken the crown. For 2025, want to see Arjun take number one ranking, Pragg to dominate Carlsen H2H. Need 3 pronged attack from Team India.
