Tillu Posted November 30, 2024 Author Posted November 30, 2024 Game heading for a draw. Thought the game was lost with Ding having so many options at one point. Vickydev and randomGuy 1 1
rangeelaraja Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 I would not say Gukesh isn't playing at his " best" , because your opponent and his preparedness ( or lack of ) determines your success. But clearly this is not the "easy" championship that most pundits were confident about. I am just an ordinary chess enthusiast and extremely excited about the current crop of Indian players .......and I have been saying all along 1:1 World Championship is a totally different battle. Nepo won the candidates for the 2023 WC Championship finishing 1.5 pts ahead of Liren who finished #2. Yet Nepol lost to Ding in the World Championship in a 1:1 setting. Regardless of the outcome of this championship --what Gukesh has done as an 17 / 18 year old ( he was 17 when he won the candidates in April ) ....is unprecendented. My worry is ...in his over exertion to win with the white pieces...he will at one make a mistake that Ding will not let go unpunished. World Championships are very tough....It is over 90 % opening preparation. Tillu 1
Tillu Posted December 1, 2024 Author Posted December 1, 2024 Hardly 10 minutes into today's game and they was so much bloodbath already. Both the players already finished 15 moves. Ding came well prepared today. Vickydev 1
Tillu Posted December 1, 2024 Author Posted December 1, 2024 Ding played repeated moves in the anticipation of a draw and Gukesh rejected it.

Gukesh doing his best to get into a bad position and lose. Really shocking play by Gukesh. He is literally one bad move away from losing.
Vickydev Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 Probably will be a draw again. Onus on Ding here to see if he can really take this on. So far I don't think he hasn't shown any initiative
Tillu Posted December 1, 2024 Author Posted December 1, 2024 So tensed with the current match situation. Both of them are evenly poised and has equal chances to win. rangeelaraja 1

He knows he doesn't stand a chance in the tie breakers which is why Ding is merrily offering draws in most of the games.

Isn't that the general idea in a World Championship atleast ? After the day's break - 2 of the next 3 games, Gukesh has White.
rangeelaraja Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 And they draw. Gukesh really does take massive risks and exposes himself badly. I just wish he takes the lead with white and plays more solidly with the black. Regardless of the scorecard - no one will disagree that Ding has looked the more solid player of the two. randomGuy 1

Black or White, Gukesh needs to stretch him a couple of games and see what happens.
Vickydev Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 Ding's knights have been pretty useless in this game so far
rangeelaraja Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 Gukesh, entirely surrendering the 45 mins time advantage.
Vickydev Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 Don't think Ding is liking how this is going..can see him shaking his head a lot This is one critical point in the match..If Gukesh really can bring this home, don't think Ding will recover
randomGuy Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 (edited) Gukesh pawn up n ding with doubled pawns, gukesh can't lose... Keep the pressure. Edited December 3, 2024 by randomGuy
rangeelaraja Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 Ding has defended with the best engine moves. 99 % draw.
Tillu Posted December 3, 2024 Author Posted December 3, 2024 Gukesh can still win if he finds the best moves.
