Jadeja averages 30 in last 10 games and got dropped even though he can bowl also.

Many guys get multiple hundreds in a season. Why was he preferred over them?

 

Sarfaraz had to wait 3 years averaging 80+ each season before callup.

Just good timing bro. Too many injuries/missing players leading into England series, meant India A players like Sarfu, Jurel, Patidar moved to main team. He was scoring big runs at the time so got promoted to A team.

Jadeja drop was not smart. He is as much a reliable bat last 5 years as any other on display except Pant.

not asking you, but don't justify a wrong selection. One look at his technique tells you he isn't suited for Test cricket. Need to reward the actual potential guys or those who make runs season after season

Technique or no technique, why remove a batsman who has scored 150 recently .

 

This not the way to boost his confidence  and it is criminal that you have selected a complete bozo over him.

Someone in the backend are slipping these mediocre FC players into the A tours, to boost their brand value. So if they make a decent score by accident, they'll get the test cap

Shouldn't have played ahead of Easwaran at no. 3. Easwaran is way more compact. 

Paddikal went in at no. 6 in A games and did just a little better bar one innings.

When you had an opener in the squad, why get this guy who was not even in the squad to open.

 

Again all this reshuffle done to fit KL Rahul ? There was no need to drop Sarfraz either.

Padikkal looks like an absolute dud. So timid in his demeanor.  Even Jadeja ahead of him might have been a better pick. Ideally should have been Sarfaraz or Easwaran at 3.

Let's see what he does in 2nd innings. If he fails he'll be replaced with Rohit coming in and probably KL dropping to 3. Ideally, we should also have Sarfaraz come in for walking wkt Kohli or play an extra pacer. No point holding the team back with Kohli selection.

Players who deserved to play ahead of Paddikal:

 

Easwaran (on principle. I would say Paddikal seems more talented than him but he earned a chance)

 

Sai Sudarshan- has a lot more upside as a future talent 

 

Sarfaraz- much better red ball batsman and has more range and better temperament 

 

Jadeja- better bat and fielder and world class spinner

 

Ashwin- better bat and world class spinner

Paddikal- Patidar getting chances in Indian middle order is a huge red flag for red ball batting talent in India. They are ok as fringe white ball players.
