not a t20 player in the sense kind of the same Gill, Rutu, Rahul, Mayank type T20 player. Hope he is not judged on those opportunities.

He did well in SA too where everyone struggled. No guarantees he would succeed but he's most likely to do so.

Won't judge him on this type of pitch. It's only his 2nd test. He did reasonably well on his debut test vs Eng earlier this year.  Yes, he may not be the best pick. (Sai Sudarsan deserved it more, I guess)     But certainly not the worst pick either.  Recent selection of players such as Patidar and Sarfaraz (which should hv never been given Ind cap) is far more shocking.

Don't think that Fatso Sarfaraz would hv lasted 10 balls on this pitch.   Yes, Paddikal should be dropped.  But that doesnt mean fatso is better.    Scoring runs in FC hardly matters when he is a proven TTF in intl cricket.  (Failed in 10 out of 12 innings on home pitches)

Paddikal has played only 2 innings in tests.  Scored 65 in the 1st one.  Duck in 2nd (where everyone failed).  Thats not a failure by any means.   Let me rephrase the question for you.  "Do u really believe Sarfaraz would hv scored anything on this wicket against this Aus lineup in the 1st inning when the conditions were tough?"

He would have done better than Paddikal. Hard to not do that lol. Thats all I claimed in my original post. 

 

Paddikal hasnt even done well in FC so doesnt deserve to play Tests in first place.

Patidar, Sarfaraz and Paddikal- don't have solid game for all conditions. They came through Ranji but not looking part in International.

 

Our best bet is to convert Jurel into a specialist batsman. That may work.

I listened to a few Australian analysts. Everyone is unanimously praising Paddikal for his 2nd innings. They didn't have complaint about his first innings too. They believe he dind't look out of place. Do we miss something here?  They are confident Jurel is the one that has to be left out.

No, if we've to pick one, Jurel is the person to pick. He got a poor decision in the 2nd innings and looked so much better in the 1st. Aussies don't know our players just like they overpay for Aus players in IPL instead of picking the right youngsters.
