Dhoni is their brand ambassador. Can't really see why Jaddu is still around as his bowling has dropped off over the last 2-3 years and short format batting has never been his strong suit.

Brand Ambassador doesnt mean you keep paying crores and sacrifice a spot to a worthy player.

 

Even Sachin is brand ambassador for MI but they've kept him in mentor role. Time for Dhoni to be the same.

They should've done that given Ruturaj is the captain now. But with the Impact Player rule, Dhoni is still able to come in at the death and tonk a few. I'm surprised his wkt keeping is still pretty good. That's something which deteriorates with age as eyesight gets weaker and reflexes slow down but his keeping is top notch. Don't really know why Jadeja is still persisted with. He failed as a captain, his bowling has fallen off and his batting sucks. Dhoni at this age can outhit Jadeja.

That's a scam with bowlers bowling badly to him. No way he can hit top bowlers. 

 

Jadeja is persisted due to spin pitch in Chennai and fielding mostly. Doesnt deserve the price though.

Over the last couple of years Jadeja is not even bowling his quota. He bowls 1-2 overs at max, and it's not as if his batting is top class. Don't know why anyone would have him in T20s.

I hope that 18 crore is to keep him happy and not entertain any more thoughts about playing for India again.

To be honest Dhoni smashed the ball around last year better than Virat and Rohit and many others. He did not bat long but he belted a few when he got the chance. His keeping was also not bad for his age. He probably influences the field a lot as well. I am not supporting him to be playing now instead of enjoying retirement but he is not useless. lol.

 

Jadeja was not good last year but won them the cup the year before. So even though his T20 skills with both the bat and the ball are not upto the mark compared to other players, he somehow hangs on. Can't argue with the fact that he still produces match winning performances every series.  Jadeja still worth it in IPL as too many lesser players are playing but his price tag is too much. 6-8 crores will be better price.

 

Overall I think the Chennai Management is different than others as their combo never makes sense. They still somehow perform better than other teams that look great on paper.

We've seen how the T20 team looks so full of energy and competent with no seniors around. Have to do the same in ODIs too. And our MVP is Bumrah. Subtracting Rohit, Kohli, Jadeja and adding Jaiswal, Rinku, Parag, Nitish, Axar and other youngsters will make us extremely competitive. We get multi-dimensional players, not seniors who show up once in a blue moon who're anyways not gonna show up in knockouts.

We'll have CT but not in Pakistan  India should propose India or SA as the alternate venues due to deteriorating security and law & order situation in Pakistan. Nobody can protect you from jihadists and nutjobs willing to blow themselves up.

 

And we all saw how good Pak "presidential" security is and their capabilities when they could neither protect SL team from an attack, and couldn't even make an arrest and catch the perpetrators. Plus we all saw how good their "security intelligence" is when they couldn't even catch Osama Bin Laden who was living a sone's throw away from their headquarters in Abottabad. Either it was incompetence, or it was collusion. Neither explanation inspires confidence in Pak security and I'm fully aligned with GOI's stance of Indian team not allowed to tour Pak. You could have at least 1 whole franchise of 20+ players just off of those who didn't get picked, bcci can do it just by paying them their base price and calling it bcci xi or something. It happened coz many teams blew too much already by the time day 2 came around, not necessarily coz they're no good.

But with one more team the no. of matches go up and you need to add another 10 days to the tourney.
