If we got the kind of surfaces SL got in 2019 we might have done something. We haven't played at any coastal venue apart from Cape Town since 2013. Cape Town despite being coastal is on Highveld. Nice pace and bounce there too. They won't host us in Durban after 2010 defeat.. and Lankans are undefeated in Durban as well. 2 test wins for them. Even Poyzz have won a test long while back in Durban. India Pak games are exclusively played in Joburg Newlands and Centurion for some reason.

Here prasidh especially was distributing Prasadam last year in good bowling conditions and helped them score 400+. Reason why Morkel played Rana over him in Perth. Just lacks that fast bowling mindset. rollingstoned 1

Akashdeep is the better bowler in red ball. His seam position reminds me of Shami. Akashdeep is untested with older ball. He might be better than Rana with new ball but we don't know how he will cope with older ball & TM doesn't think he can run in and bowl a sharp short ball burst which Harshit can. Shami had that trait. That being said Akashdeep with Pink ball is a tempting option.

We have generally played well at CT actually. Saf beat us in that 2013 test at Durban. The test which Poyz won is i think the match where Azhar Mahmood scored a 200. Lone Wolf 1

Left arm seamers are very dependent on movement and you are better off playing right arm quicks in this format. Effective test match pace bowling these days is about targeting the top of off stump ball after ball with sufficient pace, bounce and consistent seam movement. And punctuating this with surprise short balls All 4 elements of accuracy, pace, bounce and seam movement are usually needed. And any pacer, right armer or left armer, who maintains this combination over after over, will do well in modern day tests.
neel roy Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 In terms of WTC entry for India who should we support here to win,SAf of SL?

SA will likely beat Pak 2-0 anyway in Centurion and Newlands. Though With BGT still in play we can't be certain how will this Pan out. Need Poms to beat Kiwis in at least one test though.

Oh yes 2013 we really had a crap bowling unit. Even SL won a test in 2012 in Durban. Thala was a terrible test captain. We could have won even in NZ in 2014 when they rolled out uncharacteistic flat decks for us. rollingstoned 1

First test chase went down to the wire and second one Nzl were facing innings defeat and Kohli dropped a sitter catch off McCullum who went on to score 300+ and put on a mammoth partnership with Bj watling to save the test. We would have drawn the series at least.

Then we collapse. Wriddhiman saha hits a 6 and we need 60 odd runs and he gets stumped advancing to lyon Wanderers: chasing 458 Saf were 80/4. Shami breating fire. Amla gone and somehow they managed to draw and scared the crap out of us chasing. Wellington : India had a 246 run lead and when nz came to bat they were 6 down for a low score. And then Kohli dropped mccullum and rest is history. even the first test chasing 380 odd we were close and umpires cheated. Gave dhawan or rahane someone out when the ball wasnt even close to bat for a caught behind.

Even if they do that, most left armers only bowl over the wicket , and without any swing, they will struggle to get lbw's and challenge the inside edge.

Eventually both need to be skillful
