You are spot on about Jimmy Anderson. Early in his career (first 5 years), he was a swing bowler. Starting from 2011, he has been bowling a lot of wobble seam and mixing it up with traditional swing.

Right now, Wobble seam has become the stock ball for most modern fast bowlers. It used to be just a variation in late 2000s for most bowlers.

Interesting article by Ben Gardener. Even Walsh and Ambrose bowled with a "dirty" seam.

I've always believed that seam movement was far more important than swing in Test cricket.

Whatever the seam presentation, it's more important to put wrist action on the ball and get backspin revs while looking to hit a length.

There is a possibility that at least all the great bowlers of the last 50 years in Test cricket primarily found success with seam movement and a dirty seam rather than orthodox swing .

There's probably only 1 truly great fast bowler who put out similar numbers with just pace, orthodox swing and bouncers and with minimal seam movement.

Yeah its a brilliant article. I have read it before.

Thing with swing is that it usually deviates a lot and misses to get the edge. That is not the case with seam. Negligible movement is almost always better than crazy movement.

Who are you talking about.

200 is very decent score on SA . It is like 360 or 400 in flat conditions.

Ya they were saying in comm box that SL will bat then out of the game coz their batting avg is now 40. Someone said let them show that in saf which is a different ball game altogether.

It is very hard to bat in SA. Last five years they had the most bowling friendly wickets.

This is a systematic issue for SL; the 36/9 or 46 a/o for us was an anomaly, albeit still "shameful," given it also led to the whitewash at home!

All that technical work done on Jansen's action already bearing fruit ? Jeez. That was quick.

Bro he was looking amazing in that T20 series itself on those Pattas... I called him Jansen 2.0.

He was bowling much quicker as well.
