any decent bowler will have a good chance with moving ball..but in any case Hazlewood is mor elethal than Boland..just luck affects how many wickets you end up with..

The bottomline is be it Boland..be it Hazlewood..what matters more is can our bowlers again outbowl Aus bowlers in hekpful conditions..like Perth..

He and Cummins need to give up the T20 format to extend their Test careers.

Agree, this habit of being an "all format" player is really hampering the injury mgmt of players.

Nathan Ellis is a good T20 bowler, yet can't play consistently. Australia too is stuck with their pace trio and never bothered to develop young quicks. Now they have no choice but to go to a 36 year old pacer.

Yep.  I think premier Test bowlers should not play T20's after a certain age . Should be restricted to Tests and maybe selected ODIs etc.

Hazlewood's T20 workload spiked significantly from 2020/21 and his injuries increased after that.

Shami between 2015 and 2019 was a terrific Test bowler.

But his IPL workload went up in 2019 and since 2019/20 , he hasn't been the same Test bowler .

Funny thing is aussie pace bowlers dont play big bash but they play ipl. Big bash happens during the test season. So you cannot just tell these aussie bowlers go and do the grunt work and dont take the millions on offer in ipl for 14 games 56 overs which will secure the finance for your life..

Yes and that's the tough part.  It's a decision they'll have to take themselves and there's no incentive to do it other than reach for red format greatness.

But if Aussie players of all can't do it , then Test cricket is truly doomed .

Scott Boland is 35 years old and he is replacing the bowler who is our prime enemy.

In the first test at Perth he picked up 4 wickets in the first innings and in the second innings where we made 487 he conceded 28 runs in 21 overs.

Hazelwood is also the same bowler who picked 5-8 in adelaide pink ball test when we succumbed to 36 all out.

We have basically won 20% of the test  match already, if it was 50-50 earlier, is 70-30 now.

Lets stop pretending that this isn't a big blow, this is probably the biggest blow Aus could have gotten, Josh troubles us even more than Cummins.

Now, coming back to Scott Boland, he is a 35 year old never has been who has been in terrible form in the Shield, he is also the shortest bowler in their attack and significantly shorter than Hazelwood.

Another thing to notice is that Hazelwood is their stock bowler, he does the dirty work, if he isnt there then we have two bowlers with higher economies (Cummins eco has deteriorated a lot) trying to play enforcers, Scott Boland will have to take on the duties of Josh and its highly unlikely that he will excel with the kind of form he is in and infact with the kind of ability he has.

I am now as confident as ever that this is basically our test to Lose, we have a bowling DemiGod with us also Siraj is as lethal as it gets when its swinging, and pink ball will help him.

:police:

the 'has been' proved too good for our has been and never beens

Boland type bowlers are a nightmare usually for Indian batsmen. A line and length bowler bowls at 135 clicks at that nagging length with just the right movement. Bowlers like this will be smashed in t20s and white ball, that’s why you see modern players like Reddy, Pant smash him when in attacking mode. Hazelwood getting injured seems like a blessing in disguise.
