Ash is in the league of Murali, Warne & Kumble in test cricket. Arguably the greatest spin bowler ever from India and surely the best offie India's had. Add his batting he's an invaluable asset that's handy even in not so spin friendly wickets. 

 

His 11 POTS awards(the most) will hardly be matched by anyone in the future. An absolute legend of the game.

He could have played in Melbourne and Sydney but guess Gauti told him he is not going to be in the 11 and hence he retired

Why with immediate effect. Could have retired in Adelaide with a proper guard of honor if he intended.
