Nikhil_cric
16 hours ago, Vijy said: Since we are at mid-point of VHT, I want to offer some thoughts: 1. Looks like there have been lots of flat pitches. So bowlers not doing great is understandable. 2. Almost of the "top" bowlers (i.e., those in the top 20 wkt takers) strike me as new emerging talents for ICT. Arshdeep did well, but is already a semi-established player. Mavin trundler did fine, but we know that he flatters to deceive. Arora is a solid seamer, but probably not fully int'l class, except for swinging pitches. Kambhoj is a trundler, but may do okay on some pitches (can hit as well in List A). Maybe only lone spark is that Prince Yadav has started off well, though some wkts were against weaker teams. 3. ARs have been largely missing in action. Likes of Bawa are not bowling, and some (e.g., Hangu) have not gotten chances. 4. Lot of batters have done well, but about 1/4th are have-beens like Mandeep, Mayank and Nair. Half are domestic bullies not suited for int'l cricket: Vohra, Prashant Chopa, Hebbar, Kalsi, etc. Interesting thing is that some promising players have done well: Abhishek Sharma/Porel; A. Mhatre (kid is only 17 and already with good FC/List A record); Prabhsimran and Lomror (neither may be fully int'l class, but both have secondary skills - keeping and bowling, respectively). Also nice to see Siddhesh Veer making step-up from past U19 days to do well with bat and ball. This is why Deodhar Trophy is important. Pick 5 squads of the best domestic players and you'll get a better idea of who's capable of what . Otherwise, there's too much guess work involved. Deodhar Trophy with ball tracking just like what we had for Duleep. express bowling and Vijy 2 Link to comment

After the guidance from Shri Bhuvaneshwar Kumar...Mavi is picking up wickets left right and center at a speed of 125kph. raki05 1 Link to comment

Mayank had several balls >155. He was faster, quite accurate, and got more bounce. express bowling 1 Link to comment

Also Mayank is vey young..if I am not wrong..Munaf was slightly older probaby age fudged too when he burst onto the scene.. Some hope I have is that hopefully Mayank’s body gets stronger with more game time, diet, exercises etc..and he gets back to 150+ and is able to maintain it without major fitness issues.. I reckon Munna definitely age fudged - probably >2 yr. Mayank also looks 1-2 yr older than his formal age. Link to comment

tapandrun
Munaf made his debut after couple of injuries and when he made his debut he was at peak was bowling 140-145 kmph and in just 2 seasons of his intnl cricket he was down to sub 135 kmph and often bowled below 130 kmph. Do not think he ever touched 150 kmph on speedometer. Lilee propped him up as express bowler who was faster than Lee while he was in MRF pace foundation. There was another guy at same time (can not recall the name) who was working in SA and was supposed to bowl 160+kmph. Edited January 2 by tapandrun Link to comment
