So why the fudge is india not locking down the mki upgrade deal and increasing availability from 260 to 400? You have production lines ready to support 20 jets a year. You can incorporate the astra and brahmos on it. Upgrade will focus on engine and radar. Yes the jet has its flaws but its much better than no jet. The upgrade with astra will easily best the jf17.

A bird in hand is better than two in the bush....india seems to be too focused on the bush...

I might sound defeatist. 

 

China has the luxury of NOT having the caste/regional/language fault lines. We do not have it.

 

Best we can do is slow incrementalism, and hope that Lord Venkateshwara saves our behind.

No wrist slitting. For some reason, I feel all this stealth Jet is not going to work,Sooner or later someone will design a radar to detect F-35 or whatever. Most liklely, such Radars exists, Its just that fighter jets are saying dont reveal it as billions of sale to be made

 

A Good missile/Rocket force coupled with advabced Radars and anti mkissle defence shields is good enough to deter any country.

 

Also, when you are nuclear nation, No one attacks you directly. They make you fight another country like Russia Ukraine war.

 

Finally, As soon as you take out missile defence shield (like Russian did using Orsehnik) all talks of supplying and hitting deep inside your territory is put in dustbin.

 

PS: To me, Only better jet will be the one which is faster and more mobile than current jets. Think none are promising the speed and agilty

BC kaveri engine sadiyon se bana rahey hai aaj tak nahi bana. Indian politicians are so corrupt and self centred that they don't think innovation anywhere else other than manipulating voters and winning elections. BC freebies and overwhelming tax on income class is there new warfare. Bloody selfish loosers aaj tak ek jet engine nahi bana paye or income tax devloped country se bhi jayda lagatey hai. Sab ke sab chor hai saaley.

Truth is engine development is that only remaining piece of tech the west has unquestioned lead in. There is too much expertise at Boeing Airbus and their associated military complexes.

Forget about fighter jets the Russian Chinese joint venture for commercial aviation is not going swimmingly either. Both countries are struggling with the engine. That itself should tell you that the 6th gen chinese fighter jets will have engine issues.


If india manages to build a viable engine for even a 4.5 gen bird like tejas then we should be able to crack most other things such as building a nuclear sub from scratch.

People like to blame Drdo but you need to throw money at projects like this.

Kaveri needs to be backed. Its a project that can result in quantum increase in capability.

Defense in India is going private. The govt has too much sarkari babu nonsense and promotions. People who joined DRDo as junior scientists have quit in the past because of the culture.
