A national cap cannot be that cheap that you get a trial run out with the full national  side without having played any games in that format at any level before. Not just fitness, there's also no evidence he has the skills required for ODI cricket.

List A average of 21. What does he lack for the ODI format - skill wise?

He has played only 9 such games the last of which was   Vijay Hazare 2023.

He did not bowl 10 overs in a single List A match in 2023 when he last played.

The last time he bowled 10+ overs in a game was back in 2022 in a Ranji game. He's had injury setbacks since then obviously

What is the evidence that he is demonstrating current skills and fitness that put him at higher in the pecking order than others vying for an India ODI cap ?

I don't know about his fitness . You said skills.  High pace and the ability to bowl a tight outside off line are generally very good attributes for an ODI bowler.

and where is he demonstrating these skills at the moment that justifies inclusion in the national team ?

Who are the options ?

Mukesh Kumar avg 33 in List A
Avesh Khan avg 34 in List A
Vijaykumar Vyshak avg 32 in List A

All 3 were India's bowlers in recent times. BCCI won't take gamble on any unknown faces in CT.

Been a key player for series win in SAF and Australia.

Not sure if you follow cricket.

I do follow cricket..and that is why i know that bilateral statpadding against those non serious SENA sides at 40% strength doesn't mean anything in this day and age..

You guys should have realised it after the Asia cup and world cup humiliations in 2023. 50 averaging so called bilateral kings Imam Babar etc were shown their place when it mattered the most and when teams actually played to their fullest.

You guys have a good chance against us now that Saim is out and we will have the clown Imam opening for us.

Bumrah is out too..and even if Shami plays he wont be back to his 75% best..

after that whatever Thakela bowlers we have..any body can score runs against them..

Tip:Get a debutant..and Thakelu bowlers\TM will be clueless..

Lol being defensive, suddenly saim ayub is only differentiating factor between Pak victory or loss against India. During wc23 they were crying for Nasim Shah than wt20 24 happened and now its saim ayub. :phehe:
