we most definitely did,we used bat like an ODI game in T20s,conserve wickets for the final 10 overs,now its all gas till the 20th over as it should be.we also only played with 5-6 bowlers with only 1 all rounder and none of our bowlers could bat.now we have 8 guys who can bowl and even good bowlers like Axar rarely finish their quota.

We didnt play that way in the world cup at all and it almost cost us

Bumrah has to make a choice,he missed more than a year due to back spasms and probably will miss most of 2025,he can either play Tests and forgo all other competition or just play T20s,i know what he is going to do .

I say let him focus on shorter formats - ODIs and T20s.

So true. Had the fatman and fake King not retired from the format on their own, they would still be playing. Our selectors neither have the balls nor the foresight to drop them.

Shorter formats have no meaning except WCs.

 

Bumrah wants to be a test match great and WC great.

Ro-ko will surely play CT at least. No point making squads without them. 

 

Realistic squad: 

 

1. Rohit

2. ________ Jaiswal (back up Samson/Gill)

3. Kohli

4. Shreyas

5. ________ KL (back up Pant) 

6. Hardik

7. Axar 

8. _________ Sundar/Jadeja/Nitish

9. _________ Kuldeep 

10. Shami (back up : Arshdeep)

11. Bumrah (back up: Siraj)

 

The ones without a blank are automatic selections. The ones with a blank are the ones to be discussed. 

 

#2 - given his talent and form, Jaiswal is a no brainer. Back up could be Samson or Gill depending on form

 

#5 KL will continue to be first choice keeper despite his horrendous show on Nov 19. Pant well be back up keeper/middle order bat

 

#8 - This will be the most debated spot in my opinion. Someone who can bowl and bat. My first choice is Sundar, but I won't be surprised if the selectors go with Nitish or even Jadeja 

 

#9 - Kuldeep should be first choice

 

Back up fast bowlers will be Arshdeep and Siraj, with Shami and Bumrah being first choice
