That’s actually a great observation. A pitch inspector would help them select which XI to choose. If India had 7 allrounders, the XI wouldn’t have to change.

Time to niggle out Kohli. They already have an excuse of his knee injury and should simply say that the injury was more serious than they thought and Kohli will need 6 weeks of rest. And then drop KL to play Pant. With Jaiswal and Pant in, it solves lot of problems.

Why is deadline for "fitness". This is ridiculous. You have not even tested him after his return. What kind of fitness test that will pass Bumrah? This is not an important tournament. India should just send fresh new legs to the tournament. Rana, Arshdeep, Kamboj or anyone else. Heck even Siraj.

Still the deadline is way too tight. Besides why does he need to come back if he is barely fit with a 5 test series coming up.

The right result whether it was made deliberately or not. This event is not worth risking Bumrah on and there is more to lose than gain for him. The tournament will be shaped by spinners and there are adequate options available to send a few overs of medium pace down as Shami, Harshit and Pandya have been doing and Arshdeep to come as well.

If Bumrah can manage 2-3 tets in England this summer it would be a bonus and that's the maximum that can be realistically expected from him at this stage. They need to start preparing a realistic set of test pacers who can operate in England. The cupboard seems pretty bare there.
