Now we know why our international players have stopped playing Ranji. If you can't cross 30 at Ranji how can one expect you to score in Australia.

The sadder part is that it has no bearing on their selection. They can continue to fail but their spot is reserved in the team while actual performers are scapegoated after one failure.

What I don't understand is how will Rohit or Virat suddenly start scoring big in CT .  Is that a fair expectation ? Jaddu batted well and given the limited bowling opportunity he got during bgt, was fine and it showed during Ranji.

Jadeja can just about hold down a place particularly in India. However, he pretty old now and can no longer be the default choice in India's spin attack from the series starting at home in Sep/oct. Need to find some younger spinners with a bigger runway ahead.

Who are those guys? Ashwin already retired, we need one senior pro there for next 2- years to ease the youngsters in

Not sure but they need to start putting the good performers from the domestic game in and take a chance- perhaps sai kishore. Historically, ageing players occupying a slot past their effective date because of the fear that putting youngsters will be too risky is why the Indian team has struggled managing transitions in the team.

But he's still performing decently, so how is he past by sell by date? We can't drop everyone together, that is the worst way to manage transition

You have to factor in the fact that he will be almost 37 the next time India play at home and it will be a series vs relatively weak opposition . If we get to 2026 and India haven't tried out any new test spinning options, it will be an opportunity missed. The England series won't have much of a role for any spinners especially as this time it's earlier in the English summer. Maybe this time next year Kuldeep+ Sundar will be the core spin attack which isn't so bad I guess.

You missed the point I was trying to make.

Spinners can perform for longer.Lyon is also 37.Ashwin retired at 39.

There is no need to drop someone just because of age unless there is a sharp decline in performances like in case of RoKo.

Jaddu is still very fit.

Everyone knows they won't do much and if they manage to perform, it would be a miracle and more of a shock. But BCCI, selectors, and the so called fans don't care. Do you think fans like @putrevus (which are majority of fans in India) care whether India wins or not as long as their "King" and "Hitman" are playing? The oldies can get out for a 0 but the fans would be more than happy they're in the team, and would like for the "stars" to continue till 2027 WC.

They would rather lose with the so called "stars" in the team than win without them. An average Indian cricket fan is not much different from a MAGA redneck. Replace Trump with Kohli or Rohit, and it's all the same!

The Patriot made sure Mumbai lost to J&K

So after leading India to losses against NZ at home and instrumental in us losing BGT, Rohit has managed to bring down Mumbai as well and that too against J&K!

By the way, no offense.   But if I recall correctly, you were the one who was extremely confident of Rohit smashing atleast one or two centuries when the BGT was going on.

What would you have liked me to write before start of an important test series or test match ? Aussies are going to make us look crap. Rohit will be made to look like a gully player ? Aussies will make one of our cricket legend to retire mid series ?

By the way, come CT ill start writing/claiming a Rohit/Virat 100 every game all over again.
