Ranji stats literally mean nothing Should perform for the A side to justify his selection. Gurnoor has better attributes and even played for the A side. Ranji standards are way too low Only those who actually closely follow Ranji Trophy know exactly what Agarkar and selectors are thinking. Md Abbas would be a world beater in those low bounc greener tracks they are rolling these days. Doesn't means he is world class. I won't even consider Ranji stats both batting and bowling on face value. Can't fault the selectors as they have been at the receiving end when it comes to believing Ranji stats. ICT fans on social media are mostly bunch of sub altern low IQ bufoons these same guys were crying for Nair to be included and were the firsts to troll him after seeing his failures in England. Agarkar and selectors should look to first stop making those atrocious low bounce seaming tracks on third class secondary venues. My blood was boiling seeing those premier Ranji trophy games on those third class secondary venues with atrocious outfields and pitches. express bowling 1

None of the Ind sports/cricket jurnos/Analysts goes to watch the domestic game or even intnl game. Domestic games are not even tvised. All these ppl know is some story which some player leaked to them or remember some kind of stat. They do nt understand the game at all. Any1 playing 10-15 years of domestic will have 1-2 outstanding season and then these jurnos and analyst look that that stat and star praising and asking for immediate selection without looking at quality of runs/wkt or even if the player has improved anything. Couple of season back when retuning mohit sharma had a good ipl season all were asking for his inclusion in wc side. They hardy undestand what intnl quality means Nikhil_cric, express bowling and Lone Wolf 3

And he follows domestic cricket rather closely. State of journalism is so bad in India that random Youtubers and jaahil journos and paid PR are called eggsperts. Public has been fed the chooran that domestic structure is world class lmao.. when in reality it is actually third world level.
tweaker Posted May 22 Posted May 22 Ajit Agarkar on Aquib “There is always a chat around someone who has done well the last couple of seasons. You do not necessarily pick a lot of seamers when you pick a Test team in India. And he was close,” Agarkar said. “But at this point, we have gone with the three that we have picked. But there was certainly a chat around Nabi. There is no doubt. He has had some incredible performances for Jammu & Kashmir.”

Bumrah, Siraj, Prasidh, Nabi something like that. India needs someone who can be economical like Ishant was. Prasidh was going at 6.5 runs in England.
tweaker Posted May 22 Posted May 22 Suresh Raina said that Jammu and Kashmir pacer Aquib Nabi should have got a chance to feature in the one-off Test against Afghanistan Gurnoor Brar, who is tall, is in the squad because his Gujarat Titans (GT) captain Shubman Gill is providing some inputs about the team he wanted, and the bowler offers a lot of difference with his "height and build". https://sports.ndtv.com/india-vs-afghanistan-2026/aquib-nabi-shouldve-gotten-a-chance-suresh-raina-on-indias-squad-for-one-off-test-against-afghanistan-11523559

tweaker Posted May 22 Posted May 22 Doda Ganesh on Aquib Nabi No Aquib Nabi? This is beyond shocking. And who is picked instead? A seamer who only played a few games last season. I know a thing or two about how it feels when you don’t make it after picking loads of wickets in the Ranji Trophy. My heart goes out to you young man. You’re still young. Please don’t lose heart #TeamIndia

tweaker Posted May 23 Posted May 23 Dodda Ganesh took to social media to express his disappointment as Nabi missed out on selection and completely rejected the explanation given by chief selector Ajit Agarkar. "No amount of justification can convince me of the non-selection of Auqib Nabi. Poor guy bowled his heart out for two seasons and picked 100+ #RanjiTrophy wickets only to be ignored for someone who had played just two games this season," "Please stop these nonsensical justifications: Hit-the-deck bowler, hit-the-head bowler, hence picked. While I can understand they are special skill sets, it can't be rewarded without decent game time by ignoring someone with unprecedented performances for seasons. I'm afraid a wrong message has been sent out to the youngsters who are giving their heart and soul in the #RanjiTrophy," he added. https://sports.ndtv.com/india-vs-afghanistan-2026/bcci-sent-wrong-message-warning-over-auqib-nabi-snub-for-afghanistan-test-11533120

Sandz Posted May 23 Posted May 23 IPL didn’t help his cause at all, even though it’s a different format but that’s how it works with team India, getting smacked in IPL = getting sidelined, unless your name is Kamboj. express bowling 1

Basically not playing IPL match is an advantage. Hazlewood, Cummins, Bumrah all got thrashed.

tapandrun Posted June 1 Posted June 1 (edited) The issue here is most experts and fans are not saying core of his non-selection is lacks of pace he was bowling 130ish kmph in IPl, Its fair to assume it will go down by atleast 5kmph in tests. Sub 135 kmph does not works unless wkts is offering too much , which does not happen in home conditions, Ind plays with 2 seamers in Ind condition can he be #1 or #2 bowler ?? Ashok --Highest wkt taker in Smat is not picked for T20is Ankur -- Highest wkt taker in VHT not picked in Ipl for get Odis And if going by top wkt taker in ranji season then none of bhumrah, shami, umesh, Ishant, Ashwin, bhuvi were the top wkt taker in a ranji season think only jadeja was top wkt taker. These bowler also leap forged a lot of other top wit taker. Intnl cricket is not about top wkt taker in or run getter its what team needs and if they have that x-factor for itnl cricket.
