The rule should be that - if you are hit above the shoulder by the ball - you are off, no questions asked. I would argue in the totally opposite direction. Each team should be allowed up to 2 substitutions that can be used strategically or in case of injury. So, if you use both strategically and then there is an injury ... too bad, you field with 10 guys. yeah main thing is all injury sub should have same rules BacktoCricaddict 1 Link to comment

But the sub should be like for other injuries i.e. just a fielder. Concussion has a 72 hour window. It doesn't necessarily happen immediately. If you are going to apply this rule they have to consider that. If not just abolish it like it was before. Lord 1 Link to comment

LordPrabhzy
The day India is on the other end of this rule and it goes against us let's hope then Indian fans wont cry and moan. This is a sneaky for the 'impact sub' type of situation where the Indian team has managed to get on Harshit in place of useless bowler Dube for concussion- and this was obvious when Ramandeep was changed after 2 overs as a sub to Rana when GG new Eng were going all guns blazing. This is underhand and IPL has corrupted the mindset of Indian cricket. lemsip and Gollum 2 Link to comment

R Ashwin on concussion substitution controversy: ‘Did we forget that it was an international match not an IPL?’ Link to comment
Gollum
Wait till some gora team uses this loophole against us in an ICC KO. We basically played with an extra player in the previous match, not done. As Ashwin said, Ramandeep should have replaced Dube, not Rana. Texan 1 Link to comment

That has also got through to a segment of the fan base and trolling the firangis has become a dopamine fix worth any underhanded tactics. GGs gift from the IPL - the only cricket culture he's tasted success in as a "mentor". Link to comment
Texan
https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/ind-vs-eng-it-is-not-a-like-for-like-replacement-buttler-after-india-sub-in-rana-for-dube-1471371 Poor call from Srinath here. Generally, he is a very fair match referee. This seems like a poor judgement call from him. Indian team management were probably just trying their luck with Rana and were probably surprised that it got accepted. I think if there is a concussion on the field, both teams should be allowed one substitution option to make it fair. This like-for-like is always going to be controversial. Link to comment

Vickydev
I think after Duke's performance today we can safely conclude the best way to look at like for like is comparing SM following.. Only players with similar numbers should replace others Link to comment
